Re: Sketch #000012 - "Adventures at Sea!"

Nice job guys ! Very inspiring things here.

I knew when I tried Verve for the first time that it was the tool I expected to allow me to try painting the sea. You know, sea is kinda holy graal in art, and a very scary subject. Well this topic was the good occasion to do the first step. I'm really not happy with the result, although it is interesting as first test. I have enough craft to turn it into a decent illustration but the sea has not much to do with what I wanted to achieve ! :D Well, hey ... Paris was not made in one day :D and I will continue to try.

Holy hell... dba! :o
Whether you like it or not, this is just beautiful! I'm not sure what you've wanted to achieve, but what you have achieved is a delight! :D

What makes it so striking, aside from the elegant and sweetly flowing forms, is the strong composition of it, really. You have such control over where you want to lead ones eyes. Your understanding of it is inspiring! Thank you! 8-)

Not being satisfied doesn't necessarily mean you can't satisfy others :)
I like it a lot!
Bravo!

In my first verve days I went through some youtube oilpaining tuts, which are lovley. Verve is so close to natural painting, that you can follow them with easy.
Even though I am not really half as good in landscape painting as you, my result surprised me and I learned a lot.

That's my result and the link to the tutorial.
There are plenty of them, but I really like this guy.

OMG knacki ! I saw that video once and was unable to remember the name and find it again ! Thx so much ! I have so much to learn. I watched another great master giving video tutorials about oil painting but he is russian and I don't know a single russian word :D Guys like him are the reasons why I'm not appy with my results but it's ok, having a goal is very exciting and learning is happyness !
Thanks alot, all of you, encouragements are such an amazing fuel !

Taron, I'm so glad you loved the composition, but it was made without thinking (too much busy with struggling against the water :D) I guess doing comics is a good school for composition, because in each frame you have to pass one and only one message, it must be understandable very quick and lead the eyes to the next frame. A strong exercice. You should do comics with verve ! :D
