DOSBOX 0.74 for Windows/or Linux - so you can run old good dosgames :hihi: - e.g. I played since a long long time MASTER OF ORION, Civilization and SETTLERS 2 again, runs very good.

WINE for Linux, you can play e.g. Civilzation II again - I did it last days

To use MagicaVoxel as a rendering engine for any other OBJ SketchUp file creator included! :) (because the vox format that avoids all these trifles is not yet managed by all modelers!

First of all thanks to Stefan: all you need is a Drag& Drop on the Magica screen of an empty or full active matrix!
It will be replaced by your item!

But there are some limitations to this direct procedure! Maximum Matrix 126 * 126 * 126 * 126 cubes!

If you want more precision in your objects you will have to use several matrices of 126!!!!!
Here for this case of any object not too complex a single Matrix of 126 is sufficient:)

Image
From inside the object
Image

Here each cube becomes a sphere!
Image

Of course Magica can manage several 126 matrixes!

In theory 16*16*16 (4 096) matrices of 126*126*126 (2 000 376 Voxels (cubes) but not sure that the rendering engine takes them all!

If you want more precision you will have to "cut" your objects before the Drag& Drop!
A little tutorial will follow soon! :) (for Me but it's the same for SKetchUp or others!

For the moment a simple object in Drag & Drop direct import!

Image
and multiple copy into Magica matrices!

Image

Using the "Stereo Projection" function of the camera, it is sufficient to render the surface grids and edges as well!
To which we can give separate colors! (here red for the edges, grey for the grid)

Blue background, yellow ground but you can wear whatever you want! :)

And of course materials to your object faces!
Here a simple transparent material!

And then it's the exploration of your more unorthodox volumes according to the angle of the Stereoscopic sight! :) Recommended from 150° to 270° for a more or less distorted landscape!

For example, depending on where you are located!

others

Image

Variation with the Voxel function xyz function of the rendering engine!
Image
Image

Needless to say, it's endless and fascinatingly beautiful!
And above all, the ratio of time spent / final image must be around one minute all inclusive! :)
And I'm not very good at it! :)

The "Canadian cut-off" tutorial soon! :)

The tuto :)

Seems a full cubic matrix of "126" is centered on origine at Z=0
so this in a modeler without unity
(12.6 * 2 = 25.2)

Image

Say this object inside a 3D modeler

Image

Imported in Magica we have that even the size of the Moi Object is twice, *10 or any thing else!
It centered along the biggest length(s) and adapted to 126 along the 3 axis x,y,z

Image

We need to have a cool trick for have any position wanted inside the Matrix 126 :)

The trick is to modelize (or place) in the modeler your object inside 8 cubes who are in the corner of the Matrix! ;)
Like this you can have any objects who will be easilly aligned!

Here objects must be aligned on a side and smallest than "126" )

Image

So something like that very easy to erase when objects are aligned like you want!

Image

When you increase size object inside Moi in using more than one matrix (if it not sufficient for a big object(s) )
cubes become more smaller and increase the precision!

A more easy way for make the 8 vertices of a Matrix 126 :)

Draw it inside Magica (enable Grid) so Attach the 8 cubes

then Import it inside your modeler
All measures must at the external of the Cubes!

so

Image

Image

Image

You can now draw any objects inside several Matrix!

Just Split them at fontiers of each Matrix!

That be made by a simple line and Boolen Diff

Image

Now each object + its 8 vertices can be exported inside Magica! :)

Of course name all your Matrix for a more easy selection!

Image

Some Copy Paste Move

Image

and...go...

etc... :)

Pilou, this is really cool stuff! I wonder, if they have a forum for that themselves?!? ...no doubt they would enjoy seeing your really pretty looking creations!
I'm getting a kick out of it, too, but I wonder, if this thread gets a bit overloaded with Magic Voxels now, you know?! I'm hesitant to suggest a thread for this here, because it literally is a different app that has nothing to do with Verve. However, I love the app and think it looks outstanding. I already played around with it for a few minutes, utterly impressed. I wished, I could have this cool hardware renderer in Verve to do some neat shadow casting, radiosity passes for a final output. Maybe I'll play around with that sometime myself. :ugeek:

So, yeah, don't get me wrong: Awesome tool, awesome that you post the info here, thank you very much, Pilou! :ob

Don't worry i will stop now!
I have made my own page
It's a piece of cake! The magic is that you can use it for different things totally different!
Voxel art (who is not my cup of tea) or exploration of new spaces without efforts! c:!
More living than fractals! 8-)
And the possibility to put cubes as light emmeters is terrific! :ob

There is a "Discord" where i am but it's not like a forum ...i am old fashion!

PS Verve can be use for make crazzy backgrounds and use it inside for create stuning volumes! ;)
Will be my next exploration! :)
