Re: Brush Settings & Configurations

You are racking up a wild collection, pud! :ob
I just wonder how much you realize that this is your unique magical artistry?! c:!
...I'm sure, I've mentioned something like that at least once before, but it just keeps popping into my mind, when I watch these!

The biggest problem I see with all of this, is that my fixing the glossiness weirdness will likely destroy the technique. I must either make it an option, or find some more elegant implementation of this "bug". Just now I've written a small fix for it, allowing negative glossiness to act nicely, without ugly artifacts, but it then really is negative highlights rather than broken colors. You can still get nice and interesting results, but not like that.

We shall see! :ugeek:

Re: Brush Settings & Configurations

* So, I have three layers and a lot of fun :)
I have new theory of mixing colours.
First, i'm painting on the middle one, then when i'm going on the top one or the bottom one - they're mixing totally different. Sometimes they're "stealing" colours from another layer.
I don't know how to explain this.

Re: Brush Settings & Configurations

Ehehehe...with the massive swatch list I almost didn't recognize Verve, hehe! :D
Well, it's easy to explain what is happening for you there, but the reason for why it has to be that way is not as easy, maybe:
- When you choose a color, all pixels with an alpha value below a certain threshold on the layer will get filled with that color, not changing the alpha value. However, when fluids smear across pixels that had just enough alpha not to be flushed with the new color, they will smear what ever old color was still on them. It's a weird thing, but it's a compromise I went for in order to make things act as fast as they do.
NORMALLY one would not really paint on the layer during painting, but on a temporary extra layer. If I did that with Verve, I would have to apply fluids to both layers and then do the even harder process of mixing existing colors with the temporary new layer and so on... a big, slow pain to deal with.
Anyway, with how I have solved it, there are some fun side effects one can actually exploit nicely, too! 8-)
Here to help! :D
