Negative values - sticky black bug

Hi,

this bug is starting to get annoying.
Once "infected" it was impossible to get rid of it in this, luckily, early picture.

Hope there is something "one" can do about this?

Re: Negative values - sticky black bug

Yes, switch paint mode to = instead of > and paint over it. Then smudge the black away. Not sure how you've gotten it, but this way you can get rid of it again. I've just tried it and it works.
I will have to have another look what on earth I'm doing to let this happen. Sense it makes little to me, of course, but well...hopefully it will after my next examination!

That's a workaround at least!

Thanks, taron.

Knacki, download again! I've done another safety check into my color pushing routine. If you now smudge over those black areas, they should normalize again.
I wished, I could nail the situation when this happens! If you have any observations, please, let me know right away! :geek:

Re: Negative values - sticky black bug

I think I've encountered the same bug. It is definitely black and sticky, anyway, although also until I restarted Verve it mostly took away the ability to draw anywhere on the canvas, and switching to = mode and erasing/smudging did not seem to work. Although making a duplicate layer and erasing with #2 brush did? I don't remember the exact steps tbh. I'm getting pretty sleepy....

Just as a BTW... Knacki, much thanks for the cheatsheet / tips & tricks post you put together. Your gallery postings are deeply impressive too.

Re: Negative values - sticky black bug

I really would love to know what you guys were doing, haha... this is such a specific thing to accomplish. Thanks for the file. Switching to brush #2 and smudging and erasing worked quite well.
HOWEVER, I suggest, when you do drawings like this, do them in "=" mode! This way you avoid overloading material amounts and creating such strange differential chaos, though, Verve should know better. I don't know how or where this happens now. I was so sure I fixed it everywhere possible. OpenGL can do spooky things. ...I will continue to investigate! :PP
THANKS! :ob

Re: Negative values - sticky black bug

As far as I can recall, I was using [ctrl] to clean up that edge with #9, after creating a faint dusting with [shift] and blending set to 100% ...probably.

P.S. btw, is there no hotkey for blending parameter? I know [shift+b] toggles build up, and [b] tunes the same. Could we possibly get [ctrl+b] to tune blending in a future version? 100% is so useful for creating a smooth gradient with [shift] smudging , but 0% is better for... well, smudging.

BLENDING...omg, I keep forgetting about that, hahaha. Hmmm...funny, because I literally never use it. I made it in the beginning, which basically adds AVERAGING into the painting process. This could create weird stuff. Thanks! Just the hint I needed! :ob

Re: Negative values - sticky black bug

Funny, after trying blending again, I have not yet run into that bug, but I remembered how awesome it is, hahaha! It's really nice to work with it, especially with opacity on pressure and the new and improved brush#2, biased! It's so fun, danged. :hyper:
...well, yeah, I'll think about the blending shortcut! :geek:

I sadly have to go to work in a minute flat, but I look forward to giving this a try when I get back! :ob Glad I could give you a hint as well.
