How do you set the brush up to paint leaves?

Hi, I've been following along with some of the demos on youtube and trying to paint the same things. I've got a bit stuck trying to paint leaves in the same way, though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBO2hNv_tTE?t=1788 here's a timestamp to what I'm struggling to replicate.

How do you make that custom brush shape then reuse it over and over to draw leaves? I can't follow what settings you're changing :?

Here's what I've got so far on my first attempt using Verve! It's very fun to use and I think I've got the hang of the basics.

Hi Lunnefisk and welcome aboard!
The brush tip for leaves is brush bias (the dial next to brush number 4 in your image)... let me quote the manual :
BIAS - is a "hidden" dial on the brush thumbnail. Drag it to adjust which bristles will be used of the brush. ...
The tiny little buttons all the way on the edge are for the brush selection: "Next" and "Previous" brush.

Possibly the brush used in demo was brush 2...
Nice job on image by the way c:!

After quick check on demo, I must say I wrote some wrong info
This was definitely brush number 4 in VerveDemo01 video.
My bad memory and me :PP
Anyway you can do it playing with brush bias, bristle count, bristle size and brush number 4! ;)

To make more leave looking brush, you can paint your own and turn them into your image brush.
Description is here:

on bottom + page following.

A finished leave brush - forth post here:

Hope it's still available.

UH, I almost missed that post! :o ...sorry about that!
Thanks, Ovn and Knacki for taking over already! :ob

Welcome to the forum, Lunnefisk!

Brush #2 was the very heart of Verve in the beginning. I tried to mimic Bob Ross's technique with it. The Brush Bias (as Ovn1 has mentioned) was key to simulating the edge of the brush for stippling.
Depending on what style you'd be going for, as Knacki shows up there ( :ob ), I've added "Brush Images" and an "Image Brush" (#10), while you may use images on brush #2, #3, #4, #5, #9 and #10. However, this can tempt someone to go for making actually leaf like looking images, which will likely look less painterly or may reveal the digital nature, unless you make a whole lot of different images as sequence, but even then it's tricky regarding lighting. I should play with that sometime again.

Hmmmm...it really is high time for a new video, dang it. ...but it will come! 8-)
