Just really fun explorations. Pilou, I like what you are doing with abstracts and textures. There are some great combinations of form and texture with your abstracted 3d. It produced some really beautiful looks. Pud, It looks to me like you are finding your footing in the sandbox and your style. Ed, it’s a joy seeing your sketchwork again. Top notch as always :) Lemi. You need to do more art! What you have done with it so far is fun! Nice conversations between you and Taron on programming and opened these old eyes to a few things.

Thanks Thomas, hope you are with good health, I'll like to read your comic, let as know.

Taron that Vervette app looks very promising, but I don't understand something...

is this Vervette app GPU based?

Pilou, great 3d pieces as always, I also like the paint textures you make, they seem to have sort of oil brightness in them, like in the "vrt8USbD_o.jpg" Congrats.

Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Ehehe, good morning, Ed. Sometimes I can't tell how much people know already about computer, because they can do amazing things with them and seem to do so for a long time, but they never cared- or had to- learn about the inner workings.
Yes, Vervette is WebGL, which is openGL for the web, which is how you talk to graphics cards. If your browser is set to not use hardware, you would find no joy with Vervette, hehe, I imagine.
That's also why it looks so good, because it uses 16bit buffers, the gpu's internal 32bit processing of values and my homegrown dither, which has evolved a bit since Verve, enabling any 8bit display to show far more of the 16bit beauty. 8-)

Right now I'm fairly sure it wouldn't have to melt GFX cards, because I didn't have it optimized at my test then and now it will be blazing quite certainly, instead of setting any cards ablaze, haha! :hihi: :hyper:

Getting ever closer to something like perfection with the blending. Some weird things I still have to investigate, but other than that, it's the best I've ever managed to create.
Here are just some opacity, blending, layering tests...

oh wow! I missed this! I had no idea this happened in later 2020, so is old Verve no longer a thing I take it?

Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Well, it still is, Verve shall never vanish, but Vervette will be a sort of online evolution of Verve and finally cross-platform, including mobile for that reason, but in a browser. Because I'm not doing WebGL, it even has 16bit colors and a proprietary image format to store them, too. I'll still do more research on exporting 16bit pngs. However, it has Verve's excellent conversion to neatly dithered 8bit and has even improved on that already. 8-)

So, yeah, I'm pretty excited about it myself! :hyper:

Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Uh, uh, uh, the blending, the performance, wheeee.... and I already know how to optimize all even more. Right now it most tightly updates only the area of change, enabling incredible performance even at 5k like it's nothing. :bounce:
This is only 2.5k, but it was so pleasant to just get lost in this little cloud...
