Re: Expect the Unexpected

It is a tad bit brighter in Verve as opposed to Photoshop. I did an auto contrast and color to see the difference. too bright

I have a bad sinus headache this morning. I may be working muted because it hurts less. I prefer the muted version of the previous 8-)

Re: Expect the Unexpected

Tree study here using 2 layers. Created the bottom layer as a bump layer and painted another layer using the multiply blend option. So far more of a bark study lol

Re: Expect the Unexpected

like **
"Above the Clouds" is a good study , sky and this tree. i suggest that paint in multi layers and test screen/multipy/normal/visibility/opacity together merge do unexpected things. the rule different from photoshop. with couple of screen-multiply and adjust visibility-opacity of them you can control contrast-brightness. you can combine bump of layers with or without merge. when use a bumpy brush like 6, fill te layer crtlshiftF can match it borders with canvas. for 2nd and 3rd layer of paint you can add-remove paint insted add only. use ctrl /ctrlshift/shift/&even warp for make 2nd texture data and different view ... its nice for combine with texture brushes 7/8/9 and nice for layer compose tests. you can even save layers and lode again for flat lighting and relight it ...
sorry i cant speak coorectly in eng : ? ... i love speaking about styles . i know that mountain and this tree how much better then now with really small things . .. continue tartan*

Re: Expect the Unexpected

I like discussing styles also :) Above the Clouds was an interesting study but I am probably going to go back and redo it and try and take it to a real final. Learned a bit on it, but I will go for more realistic on the fore mountain. That blue is making me cringe :D Mistakes are made to learn from said the wise man. I will try those techniques on the tree also but if I use it I will have to try and emulate that style in a complete image. That's a very pumped up height. It's like a Zbrush 2.5d stroke and could be a very complicated image.

I decided to stay simple here. When I am more confident I may come back and litter it with driftwood :)

Re: Crying For the Past

My way combined with your way is giving me interesting results Borhani :ob I have used several of your suggestions here. Especially digging into the paint. I wont be doing any offsets yet but these can be concepted further in Sculptris. I have created a number of new characters and concepts for my fiction. They are complementing each other well. :D

This was starting to look like a 70's album cover so I am calling it Crying For the Past :)

Re: Expect the Unexpected

about symmetry
may help : ) i cant translate. if you cant too ... LOL ... no problem ... i wrote for you & mirrors 8 )

Re: Expect the Unexpected

Heh I am getting too old to learn a new language  I can't translate. I wish I could. I have played with symmetry a long time with varying results but not in sketch or paint form. I know what you have written here is informative and took your time and I appreciate that :)

I watched Bill Alexander and he inspired me again :) I have spent so long doing 3d images, some really good and some really bad, that it's a lot harder for me to 2d sketch and then unfamiliarly jump into painting. Here is a very rough indicator sketch done in layers. Any suggestions are welcome before I jump in and mangle it even further :D

Re: Expect the Unexpected

Does anyone know why that sometimes I save a project and staying well away from P and L, it comes back black instead of default background? I had done a rough sky and road and was about to tackle the mountains and decided to save. I am using maybe 15 layers, some are hidden as placeholders.
