I was hypnotized for a few days with just pushing paint around and watching the fluid dynamics. I finally decided to give it a try at actually painting a subject. This program is a constant surprise, and I wish I could do some of the things on paper that I can do with it.
Surprisingly, the only problems I ran into is when I started to think digital rather than natural. As long as I think of it as real paint on paper this program is exceptionally intuitive.

Here I thought I'd play around with a technique developed by Bernie Fuchs, David Grove, and Thomas Blackshear II.

On paper it involves a wicked combination of Conté crayon, gouache, fluid acrylics, and colored pencils. It's a complex technique with multiple materials and several layers of fixative, plus it requires removing paint with a damp brush rather than traditionally applying it. All of this in hopes to achieve a look of spontaneity.
Needless to say, verve perfectly simulates every stage of the process, and you don't have to work through a spray fixative infused atmosphere.

Pilou: Thanks man I'm always trying to improve.
Tartan: verve makes it easy.
Zero: Thanks, and there is so much more to go.
Taron: Thanks again, but you must take some of the credit and blame.
mania: It's too much fun.

How about a word from Jack Burton?

"When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
