HEy RC
That last water painting is BREATHTAKING!@#$%
I love it
thanks for sharing….its soooo inspiring to see that.
Im more interesed in verve for its water effects than the thick paint.
As far as I know there is no way for the paint to interact with an imported texture?
so its just an overlay you've done…no interaction? It looks like interaction.
ITs so beautiful…I can understand why you got hooked.
Look forward to more
:)
Cheers

You are correct,...there is no interaction. I'm actually adding the texture afterwards in Photoshop so I can use the overlay blending mode. For my brushes, I have a collection of saved ones that act how I want. I have about a dozen different water ones for slightly different looks. The most important thing is the canvas. I set the density down and have it covered by all these little speckles. That allows the paint to move in fantastic ways across the surface.

Here is a small watercolor brush I'd like to share.

The canvas texture that makes good paint flow can be a bit distracting to look at, so I usually turn off the canvas texture when I am done painting and then replace it with a photo one.

Thanks so much for sharing this little file RC
Thats very helpful!
I didnt really realize how profoundly the canvas was affecting the way the paint flows!
Clearly there is a ton of unrealized potential ( READ TARON!) in Verve just begging to be fleshed out
In the meantime this is great stuff
Keep up the great work!

Beautiful RC
Have you tried printing these out?
I imagine they would look spectacular!
I tried doing an overlay in ps with a texture I downloaded but it did not give good results....washed out the image....any suggestions for preparing the texture?
Thanks

For the overlay, there are a few important things.

First, make sure the blending mode is set to overlay. (others like "soft Light" can work also, but overlay would be my first choice)
The canvas texture needs to be neutral. What I mean by that is it needs to be centered value-wise around a 50% grey. This is so your image does not get too bright/dark. You are simply adding a texture.
The overlay mix should be pulled down to about 15-20% or so. Depends on the image, but don't overdo it.
The overlay will add a bit of saturation to the image. You may need to color adjust afterwards to pull some of that back again.

edit: adding a painting for today.
