Oh, no, no, those are not "compression artifacts", but most likely an unfortunate fluid on canvas kink... I can see the shading cells, which makes me wonder what your computer specs are, or rather graphics card?!

I'm still using the GTX 670. Actually, the interface itself is was showing problems too. Maybe I was running out of VRAM? I checked out the VRAM usage on GPU-Z and it was definitely high. It often hovered just tens of megabytes under the 2GB of VRAM that his card has.

This is the biggest canvas that I've worked on. I've tried opening an older painting and it didn't display any problems.

 Pilou!!! ...nice one!
Well, heck, Wooph, that does look like a problem with the card for sure!
Hmmmm....oh, and if you don't mind, you might put your specs into your signature here, that would be great. It's hard for me to remember everyone's systems, you know. I'm trying, but it's rough...I always have to check my own specs again and again, because I can't remember, hahaha...:PP

So, yeah...I'm not sure what I could possible do about that, but I know I am currently changing a lot of the internal architecture, which is shifting memory and processing efforts around. Unfortunately I'm also adding some crazy stuff, which may make it even harder. However, for layers I'm pondering over alternatives that take a massive load off of the card's memory. Not sure how well it will work out and how pleasant it operates, but it's definitely part of my agenda.
