Re: EB Verve Painter

A really promissing picture.
Your skin tones are so vivid and fresh. I simply love them.
The girls eyes do have this touch......
I searched for a translation for the German word unnahbar which is said to be aloof?
It means that they are not unfriendly but gives you right the order to keep a little distance.

About the rest, I am sure, once finish all the critics will be obsolete as you see those things probably more clear than most of us.
About warping I made a little tut in the „everlasting verve tricks thread“
Just in case it‘s not working like you want ;)

Cheers, mate.
Looking forward to see finished version.

Re: EB Verve Painter

thx Knacki, Tartan, Zero, Taron, for all your advice men.
so Warp tool must be used with brush number 1 or 6, now I know xD
Do you mean this warp tool could move the features without distorting them (like squeeze them), I'll give it a try.
I usually use clone tool to move things a couple of pixels, as an alternative to the selection n move tool.

the most important thing I must do is draw the whole pose (in full body) so I can see how the shoulder, arm joints, n the spine are bending.
I'll have to move to PS to resize the canvas in order to do so. Currently this canvas is at my GPU resolution limit, Hope I can solve the perspective wo shrinking the face.
thx again x all men.

Re: EB Verve Painter

there are several ways of looking at paintings, your eyes kinda get costume to the "look" that your usual painting app gives,
verve has its own hotkeys, its own panels(knobs), but most of all its own look.
I remember someone said once, that all AR paintings looked alike, I would like to somehow be sure I disagree 100%, but I can't.

about the painting itself, I wanted to try something loose since there wasn't enough pixels to refine it.
The way the head turns looks a bit stiff(perhaps moving it a bit to the right), but her expresion is a bit harsh too,
I thought about that Zero painting of the girl giving a gift to a boy, I wanted that sort of kind expression, but instead she ended up kinda worried. :ud:

PD: I wonder if it would be too dificult to make Verve to work with an SLI config, cuz any other issue is "workaroundable" except the canvas res limit. Hope Taron could cast some light on it.

Re: EB Verve Painter

This is a very good beginning.

Looks very lovely.

Without SLI I can go up to 3000x3000 on my 4 years old Titan GTX 1. Gen, which would allow you much more detail.
So I see your point, but it is absolutely misleading for beginners to say you couödn't go more into detail because of verve's leck of big resolutions.
If you haven't any more pixels left" you just started at way too Low Res.
And SLI is not the only solution, I am sure.

Re: EB Verve Painter

please nacki, could you post a workaround method in your everlasting tricks thread?
I really have no idea of how to overcome the canvas res limits, the original painting is 2700 x 1700 wich was almost the limit for my gtx 680m
n I wanted to paint a girl in the forest, notice I did the girl pose sit, so it would consume less pixels compared if she had been standing,
SLI would allow verve user to add second GPU to add almost 60% of canvas res, what else could work like that?
Do you mean rewritting Verve in C would increase canvas res limit?

Re: EB Verve Painter

I am not a programmer, but also taron was expecting something or at least anything from tartan's SLI test.
Maybe it is about GPU Memory? There it is sometimes better to have big Memory on one card as it won't be doubled in SLI.

I am currently making a test for you with my gaming Laptop with a GTX1060m 6GB Memory.
Almost 5000x3500px with 2 Layers without doing anything.

But this is close to the edge. I could reopen the project, but it stuck on saving png.
3500x3500 seems to be fine, but saving png takes ages.
With 3500x3500 you can do a lot!
Anyway painting performance is fine in both resolutions. No egg like brush circle.

I am pretty sure that one would see a big difference once the code is cleaned and ported to C++ - just by listening -without knowing ;)
SLI can't be the target as this setup is used by only a minority.

Re: EB Verve Painter

I see your point Knacki, SLI is not standar, hope C could bring new horizons
though I wish a tech guy from nvidia could test Verve, n give it some vital info
I guess people designing high performance software like Render Engines, Game Engines, or the like, are working together with tech(hardware) people.
I feel so tiny xD

Re: EB Verve Painter

But I really wonder....GTX680m is not a bad card.
Does it have 4GB Memory?

Btw, you can quickly change her expression with the warp tool. That shouldn't be any problem.

Re: EB Verve Painter

Hey Ed :) Personally I like her expression. It is pensive and realistic. Not everyone smiles all the time. Definitely headed in the right direction!

My SLI test results were not unexpected on my part. SLI support has to be written in. It took years before Blizzard started supporting it. Besides you also have the option of resizing. I still use CS 6 as I Hate being forced to subscribe to use a program I should be able to buy outright. That's why I still have Sketch Book pro 7. Anyway Re size and if needed take to art rage to finish any small details you want to work on. The overall image will Still be 99 percent Verve.

Enough of that. I want some more of your work  c:!

Re: EB Verve Painter

Eduardo .. this looks very nice

I have GTX 970 4GB - I use mostly 3200x2000px - it works fine, I can create also some larger images - but it will be laggy if I use more layers. Would be nice, if we coul paint bit bigger images with 4GB too :D - especially for small details its nice to paint normaly too and dont made any pixelschubsen deutsch -> english pixel-pusher?
