Fantastic painting, Ed! Don't forget to go into the sun! It is good for you. We all could use plenty more light! ;)

Great stuff again! c:!
About changing BuildUp parameter, you do know about the funny shortcut "[Shift] +(b) toggles between two build-up values, both of which you can adjust" ?

I'm also sometimes trying to replicate dry brush… and this may not be obvious to get nice dry brush strokes…
To mimic I would suggest to "cheat", that is to say use some dry brush reference and just paint (with brush 2? changing bristles count) and erase some parts to get specific dry brush strokes…
Custom brush may help also..
Anyway your portrait is really well done!
Take care.

thx tartan, taron, oliver
I forgot about Shift B, all my hotkeys are messed up between ArtRage n Verve :ud:
Yes Brush 2 n 3 are alternatives, but I think they don't react to canvas texture? please correct me if I'm wrong.

Custom brush with an animated sequence would be ideal! c:!
Anyway, while #1 through #8 don't react to the canvas texture with their paint application, their motion/smear does! Because that's how that works.

I had to move due to Covid consequences three weeks ago almost, I've been having trouble with internet connection ever since, I did this before moving.
it's a sketch of an old painting (you can search its name on google, I did change a bit the look of the portraiture xD), a humble contribution to the Verve project.
I guess the dimensions of a portraiture are better suited for showing the Verve fluids...
but I started this sketch cuz I was testing the drawing sensitive and accuracy of measured lines n block forms on many programs,
but when it came the turn to do it in Verve I just couldn't stop drawing. Thanks Taron for such wonderfull program.
This covid fenomena has shock Lima as well, hope you all good fellas are all right.
PD: Dear Taron, I read your announcement above retaking Verve development, If I may be granted with a single wish about Verve, it wouldn't be for Verve to harness the full power of the latest RTX GPUs so we can paint full bodies in high resolution, everything else can be spared, the GUI, the customization, the presets, even the Brightness knob(dial) xD.
A long distant digital hug to you man. I send you my infinite congratulations and gratitude.

Oh, how I enjoy seeing a "sketch" like that done in Verve, that's awesome! :ob
I've just now realized you have a wishlist in your signature!? Haha, brilliant! :ob ...I've been toying around with the idea of allowing people to draw up their own icons for presets, too, hehehe, that would be great fun! But, yeah, I should consider adding a few standard icons like brush, pencil, pen and so on... good call! 8-)
Well, you remind me to look into the whole 32bit saving/loading issue, which I should be able to get under control at some point. Seems like this was the biggest hurdle regarding high resolution, far more than GPU matters.
I have build in a check for memory usage on the GPU, which works beautifully AND shows that I'm hardly using all! ...it's pretty cool, actually. It always gives me a moment of relief to see that it can be on me and not some hard limit where I can't get through. Sooooooo...this is cool! :D

Well, I'm sending a big hug right back at you and a big thank you for your excellent encouragement!

Yet another wip,
Long time without verving, I could not resist trying to emulate some traditional kind of liquid brushstrokes just to check what could be accomplished with the fluids,
and end up trying to craft a sort of presumptuous girl portrait, and after looking at this, I somehow began to look at all my previous portraits like saints compared to this one.
I created the canvas with a bit less resolution due to I believed it would be only a test. I repent that.
Please Taron don't forget Verve, don't forget the fluids. I'd like to got more time to experiment with Verve, and submit more artwork. Best regards budy.
