Hey

Here are my first attempts with Verve. And Taron thanks for this great application.

SWEEET! That's awesome, ha! Like the funny deer (tartulla), haha! The others just show your artistic genes, really, the style you can't shake off and- thankfully- shouldn't either. I'm looking forward to your first filled canvas, too! :D
Thanks for sharing those already and you're very welcome! ;)

Thanks for the comments. I think that Verve successfully combines many painting features into a single app. It is a sad day for Painter ;)

Will we be able to save the depth image as well at some point?

Absolutely. I think it can also be quite powerful for texture painting, patterns and such. I will have some elaborate component saving, I'm sure.
Thanks, yeah, it's definitely a way to proof a point!

I agree the depth stuff can be very exciting. For example it would be easy to achieve remarkable things if we can use existing depth maps with some pixel depth collision type of things. It will be almost like masking in 3d where the depth and positions of things can dictate outcoming forms and colors.

Naturally I thought of that, too, but realized quickly that it would lead Verve into a different direction too early. Very soon I'd have to create brushes that sensibly modify 3d depth and sooner than later this would want to become a 3d modeling tool, but that hasn't been the plan. It may eventually get more of that in some respects, but first I want all the rest to be there.
BUT: Yes! That's all true and a very, very cool outlook. I even have already ideas how to deal with 3d fluids by the same or similar means. :)

I think it would be so amazing to mainly make it for like micro surfaces like canvas, paper, rock texture etc. You know in all paint apps mostly those effects are achieved by just simple layering/masking. Maybe that can be something to consider to keep Verve within your original design.

I'm planning on introducing a "link" button, which would link two layers (or more) so that the bump or heightmap can be seen and used by the top layer of those linked. Then several paint types would react accordingly, starting with the fluids and down to pigment deposits as you rub over the surface. That's been part of the plan early on already. Just didn't get to that, yet. And it is a tiny bit scary, of course.

Here is another memory doodle. Some effects are just naturally occuring which is so great, given that we are dealing with bytes and bits here.

Ok, i just dig how you are quickly developing a style with it, too! Try filling the canvas with [Shift]+[F] at a color of your liking and then go on top of that! I think you could enjoy that, too! ;)
