Re: dines sketch book

That's really cool! You've really started to gain solid control over lighting, shadows and secondary illumination. Quite well done! And I dig the architectural qualities of it, too. Great job! c:! :ob

An underwater city? Could be cool to see some interior shot from such structure (speaks my imagination apparatus while looking at your verve-painting)

Re: dines sketch book

Cool! 8-)
Well, for studying lighting you have started out with the right idea, but then totally ignored it at the same time, hehehehe. You've created a room, which is brilliant for exploring reflective surfaces as well as bounce light, but your robot guy neither reflects its environment nor appears to be lit by any of the suggested light sources. You have to be far more ruthless with these things... hmmm... I did just such a study a while ago with Vervette. Dang it, hmmm, do I still have this? Hmmm, maybe I'll make one for you then. :D
But it's a very cool start! :ob
Point is, you can train your mind to become more aware of your imaginary volumes, surfaces, angles, spaces. It's a brilliant exercise. It may take some time to really develop your intuition for it, but you will! It just happens at some point. In the beginning some things may feel counterintuitive or strange, like you don't trust your judgement. But piece by piece you begin to understand and your judgement improves as well as your faith in it. c:!

Re: dines sketch book

Sigh*** it sounds sooo easy when you write it like this. Nevertheless ... here is another shoot... try to be more "ruthless" with colors and was not trying to be as precise with lines ... more letting it flow ... I am experimenting with the Grid a little bit and found (I think) brush 7 (square) interesstion for blocking out... c:!
If you happen to find your study again ... It would be great if you could share it... still experimenting my way around.

Re: dines sketch book

Skipping the shoe :hihi: ...your experiment with letting things flow is VERY successful! :hyper: That's an excellent way to go about it and it shows, really. c:!
One can feel the light, the shapes, it has consistency and clarity in its determination. I really enjoy seeing this wonderful growth! :ob
It really is the best idea to let things flow and explore in broader strokes. You will learn things that help you tremendously once you wish to become more detailed and precise. But sometimes that's not even necessary when it comes to expressing ideas and exploring visions. I find it appealing to leave some room for the imagination of the observer. It's more engaging that way.

Rock on! 8-)
