HAAA! I knew I would find a way to coax you out in the open!
Oh man, we really have to do a portrait challenge! I wanted to go slow on the degree of difficulty with those, you know, but I'm really itching to do that one, too... along side the avatar battles, hehehe.

Well, nice to meet you, Mike! :D

Something very nice and very unexpected happened to me today! :D

I was sitting at my desk at work in Quincy, Florida, when this fellow walks on up.
Now on any particular day, at least a few delivery guys from UPS, FedEx or one of the many freight carriers comes over to me for a signature handing me some device - why they miss the office in front of the door escapes me.
I instinctively pointed the fellow over to one of my bosses - but he called me by name.

Now I'll not give up the fellow's name here for manner's sake, (unless he is cool with it) but the man is a member of THIS FORUM and was holding a Wacom tablet! :o

It took me a bit to get my head straight because I was stunned... how often does the virtual universe of the internet walk into real life?
It turns out that this fellow lives not far from me - what a coincidence! :ob

This was an older tablet, made in the early 00's (a lot newer than this dinosaur I used to own,) but I found a working driver for it and it plugged right up.
I quickly discovered that the "Mike" special version now, not only caused the mouse to do the intended trick of growing and shrinking the brush when moved at different speeds, but the Wacom stylus HAS PRESSURE!
(For those interested in getting the special feature to work where you could not - try installing this Wacom driver: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/pro620-w5_int.exe )

SO! Learning to use the Wacom stylus for the first time was like learning how to draw with your non-dominant hand... I still have to get my "sea legs," but after an hour of work, I present my first Wacom piece:

I can now do all kinds of size-variable brush movements. It takes getting used to, but I found there are also many keys like the color palette [c] that is easy, and I think my work-flow is quicker now.
Straight lines are murder... but...

I wasn't ever really sold on stylus tablets, but now I'm simply impressed... hey, Photoshop uses it too ha? :ugeek:

Verve has just turned out be an awesome blessing so far! c:! In more ways than can be counted.

To our fellow Forum member that helped me out today: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

:bounce: YAY :bounce: HURRAY :bounce:
I'm sure he wouldn't mind being mentioned and there's no reason to hide such beautiful gestures of generosity and care! I salute both of you shining a real light on the beauty of our little community here! c:! :D

And I can sense a new substance finding its way into your paintings, Mike. I'm sure you'll warm up to it super-quickly!
Uuuhhhh that makes so much sense with the Wacom drivers and is so annoying at the same time, hahaha. :PP ...ah well. I must say, I really think that Wacom is quite a bit sloppy on the software end of things, or that all third parties don't quite get what Wacom is trying to do?! Anyway... :ob I'm so happy you see now what I was doing for you! 8-)

I'll revive it shortly!
