Reference / Color tools

Kuadro, already once mentioned in the Freeware thread, I made the mistake not to check it out those days.

It is the best reference prog. I have ever seen!!!!

Meanwhile (not shown in website video) you are able to reference also website pics by link, and save the link Reference sets.
You can lock pictures and put them on "always on top" which makes you able to place pics inside verve UI for quick color piking!
Comes in very handy when you work fullscreen on one monitor and the tablet is projected only on one monitor.
Supports png with transparency. ;)

Or you can place a reference image on top of another app. With t+LMB Drag you control the transparency. Then you choose "Lock" inside Kuadro app and you can trace through.

But no color picking after locking ;)

Finally there are bunch of options available via shortcuts and the menus.

It's a small exe without installation for Win & MAc available. So cool that I instantly donated.
(As I would for verve, if possible ;) )

Re: Reference inside Verve = Kuadro

Regarding comments of our new, very talented member Eduardo, http://www.taron.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=17420#17420 who was requesting a bigger color picker, I played with kuadro as a workaround.
I must say that this is kind of cool. Makes precise color picking easier - just a reference circle would be lovely ;)

While typing this, I got another idea.

Down right corner is same pic but toggled to greyscale which gives you an extra feeling for value if needed.

Also possible with SHIFT+G and just one pic, but I always like to have a immediate overview.
Here you can find the gradient pic:

Re: Reference inside Verve = Kuadro

Neat! In reality, you could actually just have any source of gradient open outside of Verve and use [alt] to pick colors from it! ;)
Here to help! :D

Re: Reference inside Verve = Kuadro

For sure!!
Kuadro saves position, size etc. as a reference set.
That was my intention to use Kuadro. Very quick and recreate able - plus always on top option.

Without Kuadro there are plenty of different options too.

Re: Reference / Color tools

Hi there,

I finally found PureRef as reference image app.
It is pretty nice with a bunch of functions, almost overloaded.
It has some nice functions:

1. Drag&Drop from everywhere. Just throw pics in like you want. They will be saved in a set.
2. Move all, auto optimize all - a lot of nice things to organize your scene.
3. Save all pictures in a scene, saves all your images referenced from everywhere on your HD in one folder.
There are some more, but figure out yourself. It's worth to have a look at it.

Compared with Kuadro, it need a few minutes to get used to, but therefore you'll get some extra functions.
It was once presented here as colorpicking would not work with verve - I can't confirm this. No problems with my system.

Hi Knacki,

I finally figured out what caused my Verve + PureRef color picking problem. My windows desktop theme has been switched to Windows 7 Basic. I switched back to Aero and... Bingo!

Re: Reference / Color tools

thanx Knacki, I like the interactive color pickers you shared time ago, thanx man.
about the refs I've tried both,
Pure ref and Kuadro,
I like Kuadro more cuz its simpler, but it lacks rotate in slightly degrees, it only can rotate 45 90 degrees, or I missed it.
but then again I'm stick with photoshop psd files to rotate, composite, flip, imgs cuz I'm just to used to its hotkeys, and Kuadro n Pure Ref have diff hotkeys, then I'm to lazzy to memorize also those hotkeys xD I'm very hotkey oriented afterall xD
EDIT: PureRef rulez!

First of all: Many thanks Knacki for these solutions. That's really useful!
