Great Portrait c:!

If you are looking for an alternative interactive color picker, you can use some web based ones.

Just to give some workarounds ;)

Great painting!!

About blending - you think about something like palette knife - blur&soft in Art Rage?

Re: EB Verve Painter

Thanks Knacki
great interactive color palletes,
If they just could pick the current color I'm working on Verve everytime so then I could tweak it slightly it would be perfect, it seems to me that some of them can be imported in Photoshop,
great ref indeed
thanks again

Re: EB Verve Painter

Wah, you guys are twisting my arms like crazy! :PP
Anyhow, have you noticed the SATURATION slider next to the color wheel? If you hold down [ctrl] you can fine tune like with any dial, by the way!
However, I will soon add more color picker options. The thing that concerns me, though, is that I don't understand why you want this kind of "accuracy" in relation to "what"? If you thought about it more in traditional ways, you would and could mix and pick colors on the fly. For example, you want it a bit warmer, you put a bit of red down, blend it and either pick the color or just work with the blending itself.
The other thing I've done as a really fascinating test was to use the brush images, make images in the colors of the light I want and in the colors of the ambient I want and then you can pick the color of what ever surface you like and switch out images based on whether you want to paint towards the light or the shadow and so on. It works phenomenally well. So well so that I want to actually add a feature for that purpose, too.

Anyway, I just sometimes worry that you are striving for some sort of perfection that only holds you back a little, you know.
There's one other thing I wanted to hook up right away, but haven't done it, yet. I want the color swatches to have different modes, which would turn them into gradients from one swatch to the next. This way you could easily create your custom color picker on the fly.

But, enough hijacking your beautiful gallery thread! I want to see much more of your art instead! c:!

Re: EB Verve Painter

Hi Taron,
please look at the bug that I pointed before, If you tweak any of the RGB sliders, and you then try to tweak the SATURATION slider (even pressing Ctrl) it will jump inmediatly to 100%, pleaseee, I think that bug fix is very important, also, even if color picker couldn't be changed, it would help a lot to just make it bigger.
I don't want to appear picky but, I strongly believe that for a traditional painter the most important feature isn't color swatches, isn't a fill gradient, is just the ability to clearly see the LIGHT n SATURATION (2color axis at same time, not just one single slider) of any COLOR, because the way the color (of the skin, of different types of cloth materials, etc) shifts from light to shadow is not linear like from LIGHT 50% to LIGHT 80%, it varies in LIGHT SATURATION n HUE everytime, that's why I strongly suggest the implementation of a LIGHT-SATURATION / HUE picker, cuz its the easier way to change that.
THanks Advanced. great app.

Re: EB Verve Painter

WOoooops!
I never noticed that?! :? ...I'll solve that one right away! I think, this is because I really hardly work with the R,G,B dials. I'm more spontaneous, you know, lay colors on the canvas and work from there. But I will surely fix that, promise! Same goes for the lock for saturation and hue, which are almost perfect, but still troubled. Cleaning time!

Ahm, a "fill gradient"? I'm afraid you misunderstood me there. Just to make sure, I'm talking about the ability to turn the swatches into a gradient picker, where you could make a light/saturation picker yourself and even more. For example, you could pick a color in shadow, the same color in light, the same color saturated by itself from internal bounce light and a bounce from the environment (floor or what not), put them next to each other in any form (star like, top, bottom, left, right center, or any which way you may need) and have a gradient from one to the others so you can pick any color between them. I don't think there's any more dream come true picker solution, but that's just me, of course...

Re: EB Verve Painter

wow that sounds very crazy, yes it would be very nice, but I would need a group of colors for right side of the skin (cooler color), another group of colors for the left side of the skin, (warmer color), another for the skin zone around the eyes (bluish), another group for the skin zone around the lips (greenish), and the for the clothes, but its doable, perhaps 4 or 5 base colors, that can gradient to 8 or 9 outer colors, I almost can see it, complex but powerfull, guess it could need a tuto video to explain the hole new concept,
but meanwhile I stick with my old good LightSaturation/Hue color picker xD
thanks for the bug fix.

Re: EB Verve Painter

wow, guess some of the older post were moved or removed, hope u don't bother my negligent use of this emoticons xD

thanks Teron for the color dials bug fix, and the color picker resize capability, its better know though I still miss the LS/H pallete xD

anyway, this was started in Verve, color corrected in AR, and it has some way to go in AR still (mostly some washes to be done, hope it works), but I'll post it here as it is for now.
