Re: Canvas from texture

Some tricks for you:
  • use the default brush (#9) and make it as large as the canvas (hold [space] and drag it out until it's big enough!)!
  • hit [a] to lock the brush rotation
  • zoom out so that you can start a straight stroke from outside the canvas across to the other side for straight lines over the whole thing!
  • You can do the same vertically then, too, or how ever you want the paper weaving to look.
  • hit [ctrl]+[p] to turn it into a canvas texture! (you knew that already, of course)
  • make a new layer and hide your canvas texture layer, but leave it there to just store it!
  • pick a color to fill your canvas with and then hit [ctrl]+[shift]+[f] or the new little button I added to the brush action panel!
  • now you can experiment with fluidity and all its parameters to get the right feeling for your water colors...
Additional tip is that you can leave DRY on, but hit [ctrl]+[d] to temporarily wet the whole canvas. That's a great technique to maintain some control. The drying speed affects how long it stays wet, of course.

Also, [shift]+[t] inverts the canvas texture!

Also, you may vary the opacity of your color to get different kind of behaviors for your colors...sometimes that's a great way to help getting a watercolor like effect!

Also, there is a new paint mode (=) you can toggle to in the paint action panel. Hit [m] twice to toggle to it, if you had just started Verve. Or control the BUILD UP parameter in the brush panel, probably setting it to 0% or some low value to get a more watercolor like action.

Also, last but not least, [h] to toggle on HIGH QUALITY mode, which is off by default for those, who have less powerful graphics cards.

Re: Canvas from texture

OH, please, don't worry about that at all! Verve has so quickly grown to such depth that even I sometimes feel like a noob, hahaha! There's so much to discover, let alone develop your own techniques with it. Just take your time and make sure you enjoy! :)

And don't worry about sharing even early attempts! It's often most exciting to see someone's growth. It's encouraging to everyone! c:!
