Re: V99_23 Record function feedback

Uploaded a quick change...same version number!
It works fine here! However, you must know, changes to the parameters (like drying) only take effect when you paint or click the canvas. It's a weakness right now, but it helps me avoid a major augmentation of the code as it is now. I could work out some triggers such as the [d] key to record a parameter change. I could also add another recording mode, where all parameters get recorded in real time, but that could get pretty thick in a 32bit addressed memory, I imagine. Not sure...worth a try, though.

Above all else, though, I should consider making a nice recording interface. Including naming of recordings, saving and loading them as well as making lists of recordings, which you could run with a click on them, so to say! And so on and so on... loads of stuff it could use. :ugeek:

Re: V99_23 Record function feedback

looks like youve nailed everything else Taron...rock on!

heres whats happening with drying button.....
Drying button is not recorded if the brush is being depressed.
If I lift the brush then change the drying status then it gets recorded and plays back properly.
Similar to the initial issue with n key.

Just a thought for possible simple realtime modification of playback....
If any recordable peramiter is changed while playback is in progress...then the current value overiddes the recorded value.
In the case of dials....if a dial is pressed for longer than 2 seconds then the value change is only temporary..while the dial is depressed..after which it reverts back to recorded value)

Re: V99_23 Record function feedback

Ooooohhh, yes, you're right! Of course! I will have a look at that!
As for the playback changes, yeah...nice idea. It will be a moment before I do that, because it needs a few more things to change. Also, I noticed that my "patch" to deal with the GUI issue would still create a problem, if you were painting behind the GUI area with the gui turned off, but the playback with the gui turned on again, hahaha.... super sloppy nonsense that I will all address later on, I promise!
...if you know that, you can avoid it most easily by simply toggling the GUI away during playback...but only, if it would be at risk.

Re: V99_23 Record function feedback

Hey taron,

don't know if you have changed this recording feature during last year, so I think it's a good idea to reactivate this thread regarding recording only?

Is there any chance to influence recorded sets later, or switch off fluidity recordings i.e. ?
I would be very interested to change the playback completely.
Now it seems, a lot is recorded, which is good for accurate playback, but for some fancy, trippy effect stuff it would be lovely to paint first normally and record, then put up fluids high, drying off, press v and record desktop screen for further fun :hyper:

Creating dozens of different looks with one recording, and composting this later - well, that would be monster awesome.

Re: V99_23 Record function feedback

Oh, yeah, I have all kinds of crazy plans with record/playback. Right now you can only move the center of your recording with your mouse. Man, I pretty much forgot how again, haha. Anyway, yep, later on I will offer everything I can imagine and likely what you can imagine, too. :D
- recording and playback parameter checkbox (pick which parameters you wish to record or playback)
- play features (simple playback, move time with mouse motion/dragging, move time with mouse distance dragged, possibly even move back and forth by distance to a chosen center, which could be cool, well... any weird playback except possibly randomness, that would be weird)
- playback speed, of course!
- move playback center with mouse, including alignment to pen rotation and or tilt and even barrel roll. That could be a neat playback play feature, too. Imagine you could use pen roll to go back and forth through a recording as you paint. That could be incredible.
