Yeah, it's very simple, but quite effective and here and there miraculous, too! :D
It figures out the brightest and the lowest color of an image and stretches the colors to go from full brightness to full darkest.. kind of like auto contrast, in a way. If a picture has white and black, though, nothing will happen.
It also does that per channel (red, green and blue). That's why it is so simple. I had another variation where it did something more clever, but it was too risky. I'll do that later again nicely.

For now, this is the most primitive auto level implementation imaginable, I think.

Regarding mask mode.....can you PLEASE provide an option to ......

1 -fully protect the masked area from any kind of painting....fluid OR dry

2 - Invert the mask selection when in Q mode

The current implementation is essentially a fluids mask but I dont really understand the usefulness of it since it still allows material to be deposited in the masked area.
Can you provide an option to have the mask behave in a more conventional way....simply protect the masked area from ALL material...dry or fluid.
So if I want to pour fluids into a sky and fully protect a landscape below it for example.

Come to think of it.....

A LOCK TRANSPARENCY button on the the layers panel would be AWESOME!!!!!!

Lock transparency and continue to paint highlights and shadows in painted area only....
Artrage has this in layers panel as you know and I find it infinatley useful!

I did not know ArtRage has that. However, if you turn "build-up" down to 0% and fluidity to 0% you'll have exactly that effect for painting new colors on it, I believe. ;) But smudging would still move the edges.
However, I'll eventually hook up full-on layer masks and such. Promise! :)

Yes I am aware of that sort of workaround....
Ahhh so much to look forward to
:)
Any chance we can get an option for full masking in Q mode (not just fluids) and invert mask....see post above lock transparency for details
Thnx
