man you totally got it!!! xD
I thing I noticed is that in some artworks the spirals are at certain angle, as if the paper were photographed a bit from the side, though the painting doesn't have the same perspective. You know, just a minor detail.
The watercolor fluids are awesome, I would love to see if they can interact with the texture of the image, I think there was a tut about that.

Ah yes, the angle with spirals, not sure why as I took photo from above and normally centered :shrug:
Watercolor fluids are Indeed awesome, and interact nicely with texture.
There is surely a tut about that but the best is to try: the trials and errors way :D

I made another quick/dirty doodle on this.
Some additional paper image texure is missing but it is so easy to add with multiply/etc.
