Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

Thanks Tartan, Taron
Still trying to play more with sketch, "dry brush", imported paper texture, "image brush", etc. in my mind it rendered better but well "this is the way" ;)
And yes she may look like a woman of Manara/Pratt

Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

That came out well! I wasnt aware of Manara. In some ways I am seeing Giraud in it and have always liked that style. Well done! c:! c:!

Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

It instantly feels very dreamy. And it absolutely looks like a sketch on paper. As if it was a rather small sketch, too. Milo Manara? Yeah, has a bit of that feel for sure. c:!
When you're going for such "small" kind of drawings, you may not need to put as much shading and lighting into the face or any of the skin that shows. It would work just fine without it, because skin is translucent and light may come from all directions enough so, that it won't need much shading. Saves you some trouble. ;)

Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

Giraud style?
Good catch, Manara was heavily influenced by two greats: Jean Giraud/Moebius and Hugo Pratt... and I have roughly the same influences, even if any piece of art could influence me
About shading and lighting into the face, I fully agree: heavy shadow is a no go for skin :uhuhuh:
I will progress on that ;)

I must admit I love visible brush strokes 8-)

Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

I like that... It is moving towards a balance between wanting to edge towards realistic but staying firmly on the more illustrative side of the coin? I can see the Giraud influence here also. c:! c:! :)

Re: Ovn1's 2 cents

I love the sense of paint and brush strokes and all that makes it feel like what it truly is. It's funny how it appears as if centuries went into capturing reality, but then art itself is what excites us for what it is. c:!
Beautiful sketch, O! :ob ...fascinating how the boldness of colors make it work just right.
