Eh...I meant "smudging", but eh....and not like an insult at all.
I was going to make a post on doing 3d textures with Verve, which is really amazingly pleasant! But we shouldn't hijack this marvelous thread!

heh Its hard to resist combining elements of 3d and Verve in creative and original ways. I have never textured in Sculptris. In the old days I was using UVmapper and Photoshop. I am using Ultimate Unwrap Pro now and Photoshop. But it would be really cool to custom paint in Verve. By all means Taron, a thread on it would be fun

I do look at my last few landscapes as watercolor like with lots of opacity and smudging. I think its a reaction against the second landscape I posted. There were very few elements in it that I liked. It reminded me of my painting when I was 19. (which was why I stuck to sculpting and sketching ) Looking at it reminded me of things Not to do. There were possibilities at correcting the mistakes such as the yellow cloud. That cloud can be made a lot better retaining it's over all shape. But I went and I reacted by going in an opposite direction. My thought at that point was to get away from a more solid approach and go for suggestion. I am surprised. They turned out better than I thought, and of course never as good as I hoped. So now the task for me is to find a happy medium between solid and suggestive. I came close on the flaming chicken to what I am after. That's how a friend of mine named Tree described it Tree is 6' 11" and 400 pounds. I didn't argue

Sculptris untextured model render to Photoshop to isolate and create a transparent png file to Verve. Created 3 layers 2 with original and the third to paint a skin tone over. Back to Photoshop with skin tone and applied a selection of the original (shrunk 6 pixels) to create an outline effect then back to Verve. More layers for the face features and ran out of gas on the irises lol. I learned a lot but it was ...... Tedious and not Never again. deleted edit love these new emoticons

I agree Borhani. It was a waste of time except for a couple of things I ran up on that I can use in a normal verve. Too tedious and restrictive

After watching a couple of hours of speed videos on landscape painting in photoshop and of course verve I can see that I am using too many layers in some cases when one will do. Cutting back on them is tricky for me. Most of the time shift f9 works quite well but once in a blue moon I will get a glitch. Still watching vids but had to take a break. Quick sky study I may be able to mangle later.

... right, before education, we need learn.
before invent we need test, and before new verve artworks we need Taron tutorials and our classic exercises,
have a good sky ... your foggy jungle and a match sky may really beauty
dont jump to random subject very soon. play and paint. patient and paint. stay in sky for a while !

Oh I totally dig that! Such great muted colors... very interesting. Almost like looking through some sunglasses of sorts!
