illuGaleri

Hey, folks! For my first artwork, I wanted to share a portrait study of Frans Hals. If I look back at my art journey, I'd say my inspiration comes mostly from him :hihi:. I love his painting style, where it feels like "painting without painting the subject." It took some time to recreate his technique, as it was hard to know what I was looking at. But thankfully, Verve really helps with the vibe and flexibility. Props to Taron for making it!

And here's a layer by layer steps of the study:

- The upper row is the layers added continuously
- The lower row is the individual layer only
- Layer2 with mode[+]
- Layer3, layer7, with mode[*]
- The last layer in the lower row is the same layer5 but with lighter background (for comparison)

It seems the key idea is to paint from dark to light. And making sure the tones blend well so they create a cohesive illusion is pretty important.

Re: illuGaleri

THis is what I'm hoping for! ... fantastic, illu! And very inspiring! c:!
Verve, just like Vervette, too, is offering endless ways to explore techniques, invent, recreate and discover. Many artists here show me so much more than I knew of what's possible and you're a beautiful new addition to that raster of brilliance. I can almost feel what great things may come from you and hope you'll share all of it here! :hyper: ...never feel pressured, of course, but just know that I'll be thrilled about everything from you already in advance!
Here to help! :D

Wow, Taron, thank you so much for the encouragement! You're absolutely right, both Verve and Vervette are incredible tools for artists to unleash their creativity and tap to their hidden potential. There's so much to discover, but so little time. I'm always in awe of how you manage your time between art, logic, and real life. And I'm grateful for your generosity in providing these resources with us.

Now, I'm sure everyone will appreciate a little playful study of color or two.

It definitely reads like an exploration between value, transparency, within the game of blocks.

Re: illuGaleri

Definitely something that asks for a closer observation there! :geek: ...neat! :D
Oh, you haven't seen yet where Vervette is going. The current (old) online version is of tragically low quality. What I'm cooking right now is going to be quite a shocker, I'm sure! 8-) :hyper: ...hopefully I'll get to at least show some stuff soon, but I want to get some more stuff done on the GUI first. :ugeek:

Thanks, Taron. Thanks, Pilou. To be honest, I've only used Vervette twice. The browser is literally killing my potato computer. :hihi: But I'm curious if Vervette could be integrated with one of those cloud GPU. That would be magic!

Re: illuGaleri

Neat progression! They make a very organic series! c:!
Yeah, well, the coming version of Vervette may or may not be more demanding on the computer, but should be a lot lighter than Verve itself. You might want to try Chrome or Opera GX (I think). But it will be a while before the new version is ready.

Re: illuGaleri

Thanks, Taron. Thanks, Zeropainter. I'm glad to hear that because nothing else comes close in terms of digital painting program. My machine definitely needs an upgrade, though :hihi:

Anyway, you kinda read my mind. I was actually planning on sharing artwork series, but I'll check out some other threads first.
