Re: My first ever painting in 20 years

I have one particular case where my own verve-paint motivated me to translate it to real canvas painting as well. It was found easier personally for me to evaluate whether I really would like to take image to next level and bring it out of computer land to the real land - on canvas. Almost as if verve gives you preview of painting in full detail.

In that sense verve is exceptionally cool. Though my recent verve activity slowed down due to turmoil in my current financial means which dictates priorities. (Long story short - I am CG artist who left his job to pursue new skills, new portfolio, new everything and currently do not earn with CG and a little bit in a risky, shaky grounds :D )

How can one not enjoy verve? Ok, many may find some functionality lacking or layer system limited but hooouly powers bless that software for it's ease of use and those damn good liquids!

The aim right now.. is to reach a fine balance between realism and abstraction..

Ahhhh, it is hard to mix those techniques, doesn't it? When you start painting in somewhat realistic manner, brain finds somewhat difficult to encourage anything abstract in the painting. Hence a need for a training and self-freeing to do that. I find it difficult for me personally. Kinda of you fall into some trap, bias of thinking "eehhh let this image be finished as is, will try some abstraction next time". Ok, I am just playing with my thoughts here.

Once.. A great somebody told me.. That the people of the Indus.. mistaking the faith of equality of the living beings. . forgot the basics and the learned ones wanted a classification.. and came up with a social classification of caste-sim. And apparently.. An Upset Creator that he was.. Shiva.. ran his trident through the plateaus.. and pressed the reset button..

This is my take on that subject.. as usual.. WIP.. there's loads of work on it..

Re: My first ever painting in 20 years

I like the 2 paintings before this. The waves are serene yet energetic on the first one. The second holds much possibility for use in other painting but stands well on it's own! Shiva and the reset button is ringing true :D
For a long time I thought Shiva rode the skies in a thunder chariot. It wasn't til later I realized that the chariot was a story device and his real mount a bull, Great dynamics here and movement and Energy. Far different from the serenity of the river. It's good seeing him push the button ;)

Yeah.. I was pushing the button.. :D Taron.. mostly highlighting and shadows on the primary characters.. wondering to do shapes... rather than paint it..

Lot of back and forth between Verve and PS.. though.... and a few more to go

Magnificent work! The bull rider piece is so energetic and well executed considering its vibrant nature, and I particularly like the wave piece.
