Re: Sketches and Exploration of Tools

Thank you to everyone.

Taron, I was showing this program to someone: he asked if you programmed in Emacs (emax? Said out loud, didn't get the spelling). Was curious if this may have informed your UI. I am not a programmer and did not understand his question.

Have been showing Verve to a few people. Mostly artists (1:1 stream Discord).

I believe Verve was developped in Basic BlitzMax ;)
Is beautiful that please without concept!

Re: Sketches and Exploration of Tools

AH, I think he might have said "BMax", which is short for BlitzMax. The answer would be: Yes!
Still a beautiful language, but it's sort of "dead", in a way. Since most of Verve is hardware, meaning it's in openGL - GLSL, the actual GUI matters and file I/O is fairly trivial. That's the reason for why I'm still thinking of bringing Verve to either C++ or possibly even Node.js, if I get a handle on the latter. I'm looking for the most crossplatform friendly environment, of course.

THANK YOU, by the way, for showing Verve around, that's wonderful!

I still think Verve is an art program like no other art program.... Once the UI is more intuitive, it will be used by everyone.

Had to re-learn it for this sketch. Going to try to become accustomed to it again.

Re: Sketches and Exploration of Tools

:bounce: super nice painting, yes Verve is unique, and also Vervette / Sandbox.

I also like the speed of the brushes and the blending behavior. I still have the old Phtohsop CS6, there smudge brush feels like I' wuold live still in the year 1999, taron's brush behavior like you would expect from the year 2100.

Absolutely stunning! WELCOME BACK, Kannika! :hyper:
Yeah, I'll first see that I realize Vervette, which will boast a whole new GUI spirit and a bit more conventions to feel a bit less alien, but it also will have features far beyond Verve's wildest dreams. AND THEN I will rework Verve! 8-)

Thank you for this absolute beauty of a comeback masterpiece! c:!

Re: Sketches and Exploration of Tools

Painting for my friend's birthday. Not as wild or experimental just normal.

Learning some of the tools again.

Uses brush 9 at different opacities. Haven't really figured out any of the other brushes yet.
