Re: Taron's little gallery

Hey Tartan! Yeah...haven't been over at ZbrushCentral for a while... Maffu's you mean, yeah, it's very cute!
Thanks for coming over here for sure! I'd love to see your doodles pop up for sure! :D

Yeah, it's kinda awesome how the old gangs seem to converge here. I'm thrilled about everyone who shows up, of course! Good times! :)

I remember Bas, has he passed away? I vaguely remember something like that... pity. :(

Re: Taron's little gallery

Heavily inspired by borhani's funny findings for using [F5] and [F6] to flip this image while drawing... it's one thing to find out that it works and another to go celebrate it like that! ... very cool! 8-)

This one's for you, b!

It's like a cool '70's rock album cover. :ugeek:

Re: Taron's little gallery

So bizarre... it must be so, because that's EXACTLY what I felt, too! I think, though, it was of the old Foreigner cover from the 80's...it had a 4 on it, but it somehow had that spirit, too.

Haha awesome trick, I gotta try that out one day, but I wanted to say I absolutelyyyy loved your Spock piece! He's my favorite. You have captured his personality and face very well! His eyes sparkle of life and that's a good sign! <3 Do more of that will ya? lol :D

Re: Taron's little gallery

Weeee, hahaha, THANK YOU, dm7! :D
Yeah, it turned out to be much more than I intended for it...just a little demo, hehe. He was way too much fun and I always adored the character all around. :)
I've never ever done a celebrity, so that was interesting to begin with. I've done some actors in 3d for movies back in the day, but portraits... never. It's challenging, because everyone is deeply familiar with them, but that's also the beauty of the challenge; you know when it has worked. 8-)

ANYWAY here's one for YOU, actually, because I tried real quick to do something coarse. Took about 25miutes and it's kinda lousy, but it was interesting, too. I did the "virtual plain-air" approach using google street view. Naturally it could be/should be sooo much better, but it's just a test, really.

Re: Taron's little gallery

Wow Taron! I really love the texture in this one. :D It's indeed somewhat coarse, but I think it has worked out pretty well. :D Nice plain air painting! Especially on the fact that you only spent 25 min on it! :D I should try it with Verve and see how that goes! Thank you for the idea. ;) And I must say I love how you did the sky. Something about it being coarse makes it feels much more spontaneous!

Re: Taron's little gallery

As it is, too, but sometimes it's tough to transition from crude impulse to fine intuition. The mode internally is so very different. When you take your time, details are no problem at all, but if you do such wild things...pfff... weird to switch back down. But it's very exciting, too, like something new to learn. I guess, it might be a good idea to consciously do such a broad sketch and then let it sit for a while before approaching any detail work. OR I'm just getting old?! Who knows... :P

THANKS, though, of course! :D
