Yup, I spent many a childhood day climbing these trees, building forts in them... and stepping on the "gum balls."

in the first moment, I was sure, that this is a nice photo ----> in the thumbnail view of your fb-account -, but in the 100% view - voila a nice painting, with real october / golden-like colors and nice drawed leafes

Well thank you very much for that!
Though, I can recognize my practice, I tend to feel that my work is still quite 'entry-level', but I suppose it's not too hard for anyone to feel that way simply perusing the master works of the world's "art gods" on dA. ...and the fact that I'm never satisfied with my own work.
But I do see that you've put a lot of miles behind your practice and it shows in your ability to express those subtle feelings, that are often fleeting when one starts a piece.
I tend to over-work a piece like an engineering design; everything has to be included within my plans. But I've been trying to remind myself to simply 'wing it', use broader, more expressive strokes and trust my instincts. Not easy for a 'tech' mind such as myself.

Pfff...wow, Mike! That is so gorgeous. The colors and the contrast of saturation gives it such a living dynamic, you can practically breathe the air, feel the temperature. Outstanding as always!
