Re: Artwork de K4ICY

hehe Looks good Mike :D You will quickly get used to things I know. It took me about a week to get used to the bamboo. Good subject! I love the set up on it! That fellow probably doesn't mind either way. I am sure he is just happy to have passed the good will on :) I have a feeling that old tablet will serve you well :ob

The other cool part is, by the time you'll get yourself an A5 sized Intuos 3 or 4, you'll transition straight into Paradise! :D

After all I finally realized that you did your work with the Mouse  ... nice skills, tho...

Good to see that the Verve community is helping out ... lots of nice people hanging out here.

Exited to see with what you come up with your pen and tablet...

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

Tartan called one of his "Camouflage."
That inspired me to do the following piece...

A client of ours that makes sunglasses pays a boat-load in royalties to Realtree for usage and licensing of their camouflage patterns.
I thought: "what if there was a need for camo on an alien planet - what would it look like?" :ugeek:

Image
"AlienTree"

It's a real repeatable pattern, so you can tile it. ;) Load it into Verve, press [F4] and see!
Use it the next time you're out in a Neptunian forest hunting for sapphire-eating alien space-deer.

So Taron, I swore that I saw you use the [F4] repeat tile mode and saw fluids and pen control loop back around to the opposite side.
Is that even possible? It would be killer for making repeating tiled images.
I used a little Photoshop clone-tool to mate the edges.

So, I'm still getting used to the tablet.
It's hard to get those smooth gradations in pressure that I see Taron getting, but I may try tweaking the Wacom's pressure curve setting to see if I can get a more natural feel.
And I keep pushing the rocker buttons, which I swear I "disabled."

I'm hoping that I can eventually get a more natural feel and a good command, but with expected input lag on a complex image, and trying to translate hand on table to eye on screen - it still feels a bit awkward. (such a newbie) Of course, the only way to really overcome all that is with a "Cintiq!" - but I ain't complaining, and I'm really enjoying being able to adjust brush width as I desire. BTW, I checked by going back to the mouse... yeah, I like the stylus better! c:!

Sweat! (SWEAT???) ... I meant "sweet"  (Some odd days those are!)
Yeah, in repeat mode the fluids will continue on, but the lighting repeats as well, which is not desirable. Ideally to turn it off (white on ambient, black on light). Turn of drying, too, and then it should roll right through!
Very nice pattern for sure! :D

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

Great piece of art Mike! and tileable, wow !
I did not realize that your previous works were without tablet, incredible!

For the small Wacom on a large screen, don't forget that you are not obliged to map the active area of the tablet on the total surface of the screen, you can also chose a part of it. Of course it is less convenient because you need to pan the canvas all the time when painting, but I think that it is the only way to keep your drawing precision (unless you buy the largest tablet of course).
Short version : you draw a 1 inch line on the tablet, you get 1 inch line on the screen (or a bit more , but not 2 or 3 inches !).

Another tip: you can use the limit of the active surface of the tablet to draw perfect lines in Verve ! you need to zoom out and move the canvas, or even rotate it if needed to draw the perfect lines where you want.
