Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Hi, Taron, the work you have made is amazing. Thank you very much!

I'm using a cintiq 13 hd and the program is having a hard time registering the pen pressure. I tried different pressure settings in the wacom properties but in verve it’s either too hard or too soft, I don’t know if it’s just me or am I doing something wrong.

My specs:
Intel xeon E3 3.10 ghz
Quadro k600
8 Gb Ram
Windows 7 64 bit

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Cintiq is a bitch.
I'm having the Cintiq Companion and the Intel HD 4000 is way too weak a card for such GL actions. Anyway, I noticed that it has it's own way of dealing with pen values, which is partially cool and then again can be annoying. To add more control to the pen pressure I will have to introduce custom curves, I think. Before then there's nothing I can really do effectively. I hope you can still experiment with it a little bit until then?! How are the fluids running on yours?

And, WELCOME to the forum, of course! :)

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Yeah pretty much! having the little cintiq tablets is a love - hate relationship for me. :D

On my machine it runs pretty well and smooth until the highest res: 2048, in that resolution it starts to lag a little, you can still paint without it being annoying, in numbers I would say like .100 of a second or less if I have only verve running, for me is not that much lag but still I’m saving for a better graphics card.

Thanks again, keep it up.

Cool, thanks! Well...yeah...I'm still in the "hate"-only mode, when it comes to this damn thing, HAHA ......but somehow I still have hope that I might one day like it. Thus far I'm just grateful it's got the most rotten, yet, contemporary graphic cards so I can test Verve under worst-case-conditions. :P ...still can't believe they have the balls to sell such an expensive device with such a silly gfx card?!

Hi,

I test Verve on Windows 8 with:
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
  • GeForce GT120
  • 4Gb RAM
and it's pretty "laggy" (like you have a big stuff on Photoshop - and using a big brush - for example).

Except for that the soft run fine.

Well, that's a $35 graphics card from 2009. Hmmm...that's virtually amazing it didn't explode the moment you started Verve... :?
But thanks for testing it, that's great and courageous! :D

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Hey. Just discovered this on youtube and I love it! My GPU is handling it pretty well. Looks like it goes down to what seems like 8 fps -- on a messy %100-fluidity-no-drying canvas -- on what I think is the max resolution? It speeds up quite a lot when the brush is in use. (?)
AMD Radeon 7770 here.

I'm excited to make cool stuff with this and to see where you're going to take it. For a personal project sort of thing this is extremely well shaped. And 272 kb?!? Woooooowow.

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Hmm, interesting, seems like it doesn't have a whole lot of memory, but in principle it shouldn't be the problem, I believe. Max resolution (2048x1280) is hard work, though, so that's not so surprising. I've already got an alternative lined up that would speed up higher resolution fluids, but still need to properly implement it.
Well, thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to your artwork in the Gallery threads! :)

GeForce GTX 580 runs Verve flawlessly.
the only time i got the framerate to drop was when i overdid the grid divisions :P
