Re: White Rabbit CAD

Only images are being imported. The import of vectors from a PDF is a bit tricky and I still have to figure that out. HOWEVER, clothing pattern PDFS most of the time come split across pages with overlapping borders. As far as I know there is no hint as to how to properly put them back together, which is why I have written the cute puzzle game, which allows you to do just that! You can crop all pages properly to get rid of the overlap and arrange them properly, too. I don't think this exists anywhere else in the world, hehe. ...it's pretty cool!

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Well, keep in mind, it is for pattern making only! This is what makes it special and uniquely qualified, rather than a generic CAD program. To have this focus allows us to do things that only make really sense for clothing patterns, but would be overwhelmed if not impossible for any generic situation. It's like a race-car, you know. You don't want to go shopping with your Formula 1 racer. 8-) (...though, some people might?!)
But, yeah, the goal is to have people understand that White Rabbit CAD is where you want to start your project and possibly even finish. BUT I do very much understand those, who would like to take the results into a 3d app of sorts for different uses. That's why export features will come, rather than import.

Re: White Rabbit CAD

I agree, Pilou, and there is a bright future ahead for White Rabbit CAD. It is, however, not a PDF editor (yet), and there has to be a wise eye on the scope of things we can cover. Believe me, especially I have to be kept in check for not going all out into all directions. Oli constantly had to remind me to stay focused and remember that this is strictly for creating patterns at this point.
The next BIG leap will be adding scripting, which will really make a massive difference. It will allow the creation of "auto made-to-measure" basic blocks and models, where people merely have to enter a few of their measurements and the software will create proper patterns. At that point, virtually all import features will almost become entirely redundant, but that won't keep me from adding decent support there, too.
It's all about priorities. This thing is BIG, as you can probably see already. But, yeah, all good points, of course! :ob

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Why do you say "against"? Marvelous Designer is a toy/tool for 3d production. It's 99% useless for actual clothing patterns. So, no, we love it, rock on, Marv! :ob

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Marvelous is a great tool that does what is supposed to do. I used it years ago and it can only have gotten better but I like Zbrush more for making clothes via extract and then over to Substance painter. Rigging is no problem.

Pilou you keep safe over there. As for me I am tucked into a corner of the woods with the gators, hawks and bears.

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Uh, is something else happening in the world again? I'm trying not to know about it, haha, but every now and then...

Also, Pilou, the next update will have the labels of the buttons be clickable! :ob
...and a whole bunch of fixes and improvements.
