Thanks guys. When I did the resolution thing, my thought was to place it directly center to extend the land formation out so I could see the end of it and further down the beach with proper waves and horizon and also down to the bottom of the formation. As I was working on it I realized I didn't like it. In fact the only thing I Did like about it was the divot on the end of the rock formation itself and the grass. Not even most of the green area but the top of the grass. It looked too controlled somehow, so I started pulling it around and let control go a bit and it wandered around as I tried to follow it. This morning I sat down to try and add light touches to it without destroying the feel and I stopped when I felt a train wreck coming. I like the first version better because of spontaneity but this was fun also.
On resolutions. It's a habit of mine to render in at least monitor resolution since the later 90s. Back then that was 1024x768 lol. I made the mistake in rendering a number of my earlier Bryce efforts in 480 because of the exceedingly long render times. Set scene up, start render, walk away for a few days and pray the power doesn't brown or black out
They weren't the best of renders but I like keeping my mistakes as well as any small successes. 480 resolution is a poor choice when you want a better version. My very first render of another old character of mine Goth might be able to painted over if I blow it up enough. Hmm that could be fun. (Tartan kicks himself) Hmmmm Ouch!
At any rate, as the years go by I keep getting better monitors and am working on a 30 inch dell monitor with 2560x1600 resolution. Me working in 2560x1920 in verve instead of native was just a whim. As long as I stay in my monitors native resolution I have not had problems but I constantly save png and vrv. 4000 gives me windows taking exception on vrv. On this particular computer build I am running I just don't have issues with gl etc and it is hell on wheels in a game
When Diablo 3 comes out with it's new content update I may disappear for a few weeks
(Tartan drops from exhaustion and excessive long windedness)
