Re: Suggestions

Arghh... I was just posting a reply, but lost it... :(
Anyway, pity that he couldn't try Verve on a decent computer with ideal openGL support. I'm still not good enough a programmer to master openGL for all different kind of machines, why ever that is a problem. I hope he's a good guy, but that got totally lost in translation. :|

Particles would be fun again, I've done that years ago on another painter experiment, but not as snow and rain, hihihi, but that's cute, too. ;)

@superblobmonster: Interface will have to grow, I'm planning on letting all hotkeys have a home on the interface as well!
Here to help! :D

Re: Suggestions

Big steps for adjusting buttons are on horizontal stroke in the moment.

When working maximized with a tablet big steps increasement of i.e. layer presets is slow due to tiny space left on the right.
Maybe vertical big steps and horizontal tiny steps would make this easier for most buttons?

Have to learn Hotkeys for that!

Re: Suggestions

Yeah, I've noticed that, too...trying to think of a different approach in general, because you'd be in the same trouble on top, you know. So...not sure, yet. Initially, way, way in the early beginnings, I had it as actual dials, where you would have to rotate the knob with the cursor, but that was a bit confusing for some, I was afraid. The big advantage there was that it really didn't matter where the dial was at.
Fader bars are just so clunky and big. But then they are also explicit. Maybe I just make it sensitive to where the dial is at right now. You'll see on the cursor which direction would be large steps, and which finer.

Thanks for pushing the matter! ;) ...good call!

Re: Suggestions

I really love this Knob thing, to be honest - OK, first I was really shocked seeing these!
Remembering useless interfaces with exactly this scrolling around in past.
Mostly for old Synthesizer emulators or Video Shuttle.

But the way you solved it, is pretty smart, except this little problem.
A real place safer.

Take STRG or ALT or SHIFT to increase in very big steps?......if not colliding with other features?
Another point would be to make those knobs in two colours, white & grey i.e.
Instead of the rotating point the colours indicates where the parameters are....plus or minus.....like a thermometer. Plus = warm colours, minus cold colours.
Maybe with even a colorfade indicating -major steps. 10,50,100 same for minus?

Just an idea ;)

Re: Suggestions

Hmmmm, I like it, but I'm a little afraid it could get real confusing, because values can mean a lot of things, not just less or more. I was hesitant to involve hotkeys for adjusting those, but under the current circumstances that might be good after all. Another thing would be involving the mousewheel as an option, too, as well as keys in general by which you could adjust the values. Hover over a dial and use cursor keys, for example.
I'll try a few things! :)
And thanks for the encouragement, too! I felt kinda happy about the general idea. :? :D

Re: Suggestions

Maybe when it's even more angle dependend and fastest is even faster?

This is how an inteface with my idea could look like. Knobs aren't rotating anymore, just filled more or less. Maybe with liquid :D
Just an idea.

Re: Suggestions

Holy hell, got half a heart attack when I saw that, HAHAHAHA :o ....my interface is broken?!? :o ...oh thank god, this was just a suggestion, hahaha!
Yeah, that's interesting and incredibly busy. I think that would defeat the whole purpose of my design. I could make the little indicator a bit stronger, but to fill them up like that would just be a pain in the eyes, don't you think?! :|

But yeah...will deal with that shortly. Right now I'm just having some fun with Verve painting! I'm doing a reference based session of another Ziegfeld Girl. Awwww Verve has gotten so good now, it's so freaking fun! :D ...can't wait to show it! :)

Re: Suggestions

Oh, another one wanting stroke recording ;) ;) ;) ;)
And the possibility to hide the cursor :D

@taron
Those "little indicators" have almost no visible information for "Brush size" "Glossiness" "Diffusion" = those parameters which can be <0.
(A negative brush size - is there any reason or trick for what this is useful? Haven't figured out something.)
That's the reason why I started to think about it.
My version is no solution but making those indicators bigger is no solution for this problem either.

Brush size is indicated by the circle, which is just fine.
Only "Glossiness" & "Diffusion" left to get cleared.

I have asked this question on another thread but seem Taron miss it ;)
Difference of a Brush -100 and a Brush -10 ?

About the dial system of the size brush it's a little painful for increase the size because you are speedy blocked by the side of the screen on the right!
so you are obliged to make some numerous mouse left-right movements on the dial!
(no problem for me with 2 screens : i put Verve on the left screen and have a long race mouse!
(ok you can also use the SpaceBar + LMB on the middle of the screen) :D

So possibility to input a number ?
Is beautiful that please without concept!
