Re: dba's doodles on Verve

It pleases me GREATLY! WONDERFUL, dba, just cool!
Hey, have you tried brush #9, yet? Should make sketching a little easier. But you still need to play around with the parameters, of course, particularly bristles (number of bristles is currently at 2000 if it's maxed, but for fine liner you may just need 100 or less).

I wished you would join the daily sketches, too.
Also, you might want to try the experimental version with canvas texture! :)
Here to help! :D

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

Very intriguing, once again. That Painting tells the whole story on its own. :D

Taron, sayed ... "cusp"? ... may i ask where that would be? ... i have no clue about such classifications, do feel a bit ... infamy? down there in the dungeon, though. :?

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

Thanks a lot guys.
I understand you Jim, your nudes are beautiful, by the way, and you are right, "mature" or "not mature" classification is just a matter of view, always subjective. I posted mine here to avoid opening a new thread but if necessary (or if you feel too lonely :D) I have no problem with puting them in the mature section. (I started my comics career by working for pornographic papers, so, you know, I don't really realize what is for who, etc ...)

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

Ok, I'm quite sure this one doesn't go to the mature section. Hmmm, unless you have a weird mind

I started this painting for the daily sketching topic #4, about trees. So I had that tree, then another one, and ... eventually, ended as a full story, as always :D
So, now I'm not really sure I can post it in the sketchy section, because, of course, it took me far more time than a simple sketch. Almost an entire day, actually. On the other hand, one can not say that this is really a doodle, as I called this thread
(The only things that have not been drawn in Verve are the leaves of the big tree. Used a brush in Photoshop to preserve my laziness.)

Hope you like.
Hey, Taron, would it be hard to allow a little more undo steps ? I guess it's a lot of work, and, in a certain sense, the risky destructive painting is a fun part of Verve but, sometimes it could have saved some situations.
Morevover, I wonder if you plan to give us the possibility of saving the brush presets we did, and giving them a name, in a sort of list. I believe that allowing us to create our own brushes is a huge amount of work to do, although it would be awesome, but, just saving some presets packs for each brush would help save time. For instance the brush #9 is fun but needs some fine settings until giving something close to charcoal. With other settings, its a funny tool for painting too. So saving differents states would be great. But do not bother with it, having to find the right settings is also a good way to keep experimenting.

Wow, that's soooo goooood! :D
I'm really hoping for some brush saving options, and multiple undo as well! :D

:o
Ah...I'm in awe right now, dba, speechless in a way!
Way, way up there on my favorite Verve paintings, yet! Just beautiful! :D

Ah, well, I have to figure out a proper undo storage that is quick enough to not be noticeable as you work, but won't spam the graphics memory. You know, transferring data from the card to the cpu memory is the one true bottleneck. But I have an idea on how I can deal with that.
One helpful step then, however, might involve getting rid of layer based undos. But it's not really a total necessity. It just becomes a management challenge, really.

Anyway, after you show us all such a piece of beautiful art/concept art, I have a very hard time to refuse you anything! ...so amazing! 8-)
And why have you not posted it on the daily sketches? I take a bunch of tree-of-life's in a heartbeat!

YOU, Sir, ROCK! 8-)

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

Yes, I suspected dealing with memory was not that easy. No rush, anyway, things work well enough by saving regularly. I just ask before forget.

Well, big big thanks for the compliments, Taron and VirtueOne, it means a lot to me
I always had a realistic approach in art, and allowing myself to introduce some more abstraction, even if it's not that much, well it's completly new. Makes me feel really insecure in an exciting way. So encouragements are highly significant ! ;) ;) ;)

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

Dude, ... i usually never cuss ... but, seeing this picture made me shoud out F*** so loud that people out on the street stopped chatting   (i live in the 3rd floor next to a busy and loud carpenter's workshop ;) )

Done again, the atmosphere, the colors, sopt on! Love the creepy fog crawling up the stairs, so dear .... A real captivating piece!
Congratulatulations!!! :D

Super sweet that you would join me, but i rather been looking for some loose rocks in the wall to break out of the dungeon, myself
i can well see how this is very subjective generally, really i am mostly wondering about the "cusp" of this forum though, for i have been recently appointed to moderator here and do not see myself in the position to make that judgement at all.
Anyway, women's backs are rather enjoyable as well, may i'll just try some of those 8-)

Re: dba's doodles on Verve

We just wait until somebody complains... :P ...ON THE OTHER HAND: I think the mature thread could use a few more posts and your lady pictures would be ideal for that! Let me know, if you want to do that, dba, start a thread there and I will move those posts into your mature thread then. Is that ok? :|

Oh man! This work is beautiful! :D The odd cool to warm tone range is captivating, and kudos on the leaves!
