And another one that's in progress too! This is version 1, and version 2 is in progress. From a photo reference, like the above.

Re: Cavin's Sketchbook

Wow. :bounce: Especially the man is great! And the goat is very good too. c:! Maybe I will move the horn little bit and use more shadows on the horn and nozzle to differentiate objects. Can you mention the reference links too?

Welcome Cavin. I am really looking forward to your next paintings!

Re: Cavin's Sketchbook

its so great c:! c:! c:! very well made, but I have one critic for your first image - even its in the top row :P

you did have a visual tangent in your picture - an intersection point between the dark antler and the dark nose - in the left/down corner of your artwork

even its also the same intersection in your photo-reference, but it was irritating my eyes a little   ... maybe you could correct a little bit - to avoid this tangent :ob :ob :ob :ob

I hope you understand me, if you like, you could see that short video too :ob
http://www.ctrlpaint.com/videos/avoiding-visual-tangents

so I like your first picture only 99,99% - so sorry, because the other 99,99% are so perfect  and the last picture 100% :ob :ob :ob

Re: Cavin's Sketchbook

LOL  ...nice "catch", Zero! :ob
Although, I think, the real "trouble" there is rather that it appears a little off in terms of perspective, like that right antler somehow has no symmetry to the left one in the foreground. To corrected that, you'd just have to take that little tip of the horn and shift it up the bridge of the nose until it feels proper in perspective and symmetry.

Doesn't take away any of the beauty to me, though! It's top row worthy by all means! c:!

Re: Cavin's Sketchbook

Thanks for the kind responses! I do see what you mean, Zero. Like you said, it's that way in the photo I referenced as well, but I need to be more bold when it comes to altering the source composition to benefit the final product. Ah well, that's why we sketch!
