Re: Suggestions

Aww, i like it, too
How about a shortcut + knob click though? Seems saver? Also, would work with light and canvas color, as well ... which, id really like to reset (i.e. [Shortcut]+[l] ect.) :?

... On second thought, i guess one could double-tap [p] and so on, just as well ... never mind :?

Re: Suggestions

Even when I finally make the customization interface, the individual knob reset is cool. We'll have to try it out and see how it feels! :)

Re: Suggestions

please a shortcut for "canvas texture on/off "

&
... mask / canvas ...

invert/blur/sharp mask ... for new games & real/abstract techniques
better mask from image ... such as auto-threshold ... better control & fine tune
better mask view ... "isolate alpha view toggle" ... easy control
set mask from texture canvas ... fluids
set mask from imported layer closely ... plan-able
mask and antialiase in borders
...

Re:Random Colour and blending

Master Taron
The N key random colour thing is mind blowingly useful!
I am getting some stunning results for colour field images using the fractal brush.

I am wondering if it is possible to please provide some parameters for the random colour function
to limit hue and saturation to a specific range around the currently selected colour.
Also a mode to be able to have the colour randomize per stroke automatically.
An older version of painter had this ability to produce a subtle random variation to current colour per stroke
and I foundf it incredibly useful and organic looking.

I have also been wanting to ask you about the colour blending method .
The shift key provides a beautiful smearing of colour but this does not appear possible while actually applying paint.
Which is to say...when I brush green across red they do not mix. I have to go back over with shift key to blend.
Am I missing something obvious. When I brush green across red I expect it to pick up some of the underlying colour and blend along the way.
Is there a way to do this. If not is it something you are working on.
Thanks kindly

Re: Suggestions

First of, yeah, later on I will have a dedicated interface section for such things as color randomization. I already have a "hue-only" variation on brush 9, if you've noticed already? So, yeah, I'll hook that up, too! ;)

Yep, I have no direct color mixing, only by movement. If you have fluidity on, you will see that the colors mix practically instantly. However, I'll work more on that eventually and do a more sophisticated interaction within the paint for sure! :)

Thanks, though, I'm really happy you're having some fun with it already! :D

Taron wrote:Ahahaha...total accident, but if you erase with brush 9 it will also regard the canvas texture and look quite realistic, actually!
Eh...no, I totally planned for that! 8-)

Awwwyeah! i much like the #9 Canvas aware erazer :D ... looks much like charcoal  ... i imagine the the effect to be even more peculiar if it was inverted, though? :o
i.e. if the erazer would work with upside down Canvas fibers (an inverted hight-mask, so to say) to emphasize gaps in hard paint where you want 8-)
Right now the highest fibers receive the most paint but are also most scraped by the eraser ... which is realistic of course ... but kind of goes against the porose effect i would like to get ... you know what i mean? :?
Maybe an additional [Ctrl]+[RMB] eraze?

Re: Suggestions

Yeah, you know, in a very true way this whole thing is merely potential, you know. I'm figuring out ways on how to take in account paper texture, paint substance, brush behavior...all that sort of raw access. Once I get to focus, I will totally explore much more possibilities from there on. So this is kind of cracking the door open to the true palace of..eh...<insert poetic and grandiose word here!>... well, there's hope, that's what I'm saying! :D

Re:Build Up and Staining

Just some thoughts on build up....
The stain effect on the paper texture is gorgeous!
But it lacks the deepening of colour with addition of paint which transparent media like inks and watercolour provide.
I can produce a similar effect with layers set to multiply.
Have you considered a seperate dial for build up of color only. Sort of like multiply for strokes.
It would very nice to be able to build up color depth in addition to or exclusive of volume.
Perhaps use the fluid volume info to mutiply the color by itself.
Just a thought.
Brush 9 with paper is wonderbar!
