Re: Suggestions

Although I do not understand what the Mona Lisa gif tells us (a kind of Histogram?), I like the Substrate Algorithm, yet, believe it's not really a Verve thing, because it's too purely abstract, you know.
Thanks for sharing, though! And don't hold back to try explaining to me what's the deal with Mona Lisa!? :)

Re: Suggestions

It is very easy! :) It was the first part of the paradigm! :geek:
here the second part:
You can paint like Leonard if you paint the mountains of the Histogramm! Line after line!
Computer will make the inverse of the calculate that I made in taking the top line mountains! :ugeek:
You have its palette, it's style, it's precision of changing colors!
It's not marvelous ? :D
You can of course make some little variations and deviance! c:!

Each painter has its own mountains! 8-)

PS
The model of painting of Mona Lisa deformed (I don't want problem of copyright :)
that I used is 1000 *1000 pixels (Gif was reduced for the recording)
so all the histogramm line after line will be 200 meters! (169.33m exactly)

Re: Suggestions

It is such an interesting and funny tool but I cannot see any reasonable utilization of it. You have got its "palette" but not his style, Pilou. ;) I am still looking for a tool that can teach me how to paint like Leonardo did.

Re: Suggestions

Besides, it would be not too useful to pick colors there, because those paintings are made in countless glazes, or what that's called. Layer upon layer of- more or less- gentle color growth. That is a technique one can pursue in Verve, too, by the way.

I still have to make an even stronger point that Verve really is for painting in almost a classical sense and not for a photoshop approach. In Verve you really want to fill the canvas first with a base layer upon which to paint, similar to the wet on wet techniques like Bob Ross was promoting.
Of course, one can try anything with it, including other techniques that almost only work in Verve as nice as they do.
I'm still torn about the default paint mode, which I changed back to (>), but I personally believe (=) is a better starting point, because people are not used to Verve's nature, yet, and also because you really want to sketch in this mode (=).

Anyway...

Re: Suggestions

I believe that you have don't understand all the trick!
I see on a wink the Leonard colored histogramm
I draw it in Verve with some splaches and the computer makes the reverse engeneering for me!
The funny of this process is that from a geometric drawing without meaning emerges a lovely incredible master piece!
I don't want recreate the Joconda! She is yet existing!Just the spirit of Leonard! (Or Pollock)

An insteresting problem will be a painter where his histogramm is the "same" than its painting! :geek:
Easy for Malevitch or Soulage  but more difficult for a tortured histogramm! :ugeek:

Another cool one : take any painting as histogramm and see the reverse engeneering of it!
