DarkRegards' Suggestions

I figured it'd be better to just make a thread like this since I'm already getting a lot of ideas haha.

Ontop of the multi symmetry mode I suggested in my first thread here, I was thinking that adding in wind or fan tools would be pretty cool. I imagine it as there being a wind "element" that you place on the canvas, and there could be parameters that you edit that would control things like the speed of the wind, the radius of the wind, how many spots around the element should have a wind source etc. I think it would be really fun to draw a few pools of paint that are static liquid, then place some wind elements and see how they react. Perhaps have an option that makes paint liquid but that it only moves when pushed by the wind coming from a source element.

On the same sort of style, I think having a magnet source would be pretty cool, where you could place magnet elements on the canvas and you could set the parameters for how strongly it repels or attracts the paint. You could place some spots of paint on the corners of the canvas and have them attracted to the center and create some unique stuff that way.

I'm sure this one has be suggested before, but maybe having a hotkey that opens up a dialog window with all of the key combinations for the currently implemented features would be cool.

Having the ability to create your own brushes would be nice as well.

Saving to an external host would be really awesome as well, I know a few sites provide APIs that you could probably work with, like Imgur.

I figure this one might be a bit more complicated, but nonetheless it won't hurt to suggest it lol. If you were ever considering adding some sort of 3D functionality, it might be pretty interesting to have a way of "tilting" the canvas and then dropping bits of paint on the canvas and seeing how it reacts.

I think there is the potential to add a lot of unique features, since Verve is physically based. Something like a "color cannon" would be cool to see, where there are cannon elements that you load with a color, press a button and then have them shoot out the color onto the canvas. If you have two of the cannons pointed at each other, the resulting explosions could be awesome, especially if you can control the brush type and bristle type etc that they explode with.

Im sure this one is something you've thought of as well, but I think adding in the ability to save presets of settings you've tweaked in the interface for easy recreation would be super useful.

Anyways xD Before this gets too long I'll cut it off until my next post lol! I really love Verve! Keep up the awesome work and being awesome yourself!

Re: DarkRegards' Suggestions

Hey DarkRegards,

your suggestions are full of joy to play around with software.
Maybe I found something already existing for your wishes.
Ok. It's by far not as brilliant as verve, but try out these experiments:

Wind, walls, fire all his experiments are worth to have a look on and I played around with them. Be careful, one get easily lost.

Have fun ;)

Re: DarkRegards' Suggestions

I'm excited to continue evolving the fluid dynamics. Part of my original plan is to add modifiers such as airflow (air brush you can use to blow color around with lower opacity, for example, how cool would that be, haha, I mean... just the idea of having a logic for the brush opacity that would finally make total sense for an airbrush!?) ...pinching and punching holes by with any brush type...all these things. Also using gravity by tilting the canvas around. All these things are ambitious, because they require potentially some more components to be regarded in the fluid dynamics routine, which will most certainly slow stuff down. Uh, Oh, Ah, particle effects, too, of course... (splatter, hair, branches, swirls...all that jazz!)

Above all, Verve is meant for true artists as much as for the passionate spare time masters. I don't want to get carried away with the wild stuff before the vital stuff is up'n'running. But I also can't wait to get to it, haha :D it'll be good times, I know it! 8-)

SO, I really enjoy your suggestions and feel a pretty special appreciation for your sharing a passionate expectation with me about the future of Verve. Strange sentence, but eh...:? ...you know what I mean? I just want you to know that I feel it, too, and I take your thoughts more than just serious, I take them to heart! You should see how my heart deals with my own suggestions... :o ...However, safe to say that I agree with and enjoy all your ideas!

THANK YOU! 8-)
Here to help! :D

Thank you, Taron! I know its an ambitious undertaking for just one person to be developing such a wonderful program, and I really do appreciate the time you've spent working on it.
