:ugeek: Interesting! I haven't considered making materials in Verve... though, I don't think verve lets you save a displacement map representation of fluid heights yet does it?

AH, Verve exports a heightmap and colormap separately, perfect for textures with displacement! If that is what you've meant? :ugeek:

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

I love your work Mike.

About displacement (manual) :
"[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[s] to save image as two 16 bit PNG images of components: Color only and Material only (height image). Filename gets suffix "_col" and "_mat"."

You can do crazy things with verve displacement maps:

Following page explains how I did it.

Best results are achieved by rcpongo imho:

There is a blender file included in his post
This is so lovely done!

I dig Marconi ! The 3D one means also a lot to me, a travel in time when as a teenager I tried to repair an old tube-radio for my uncle (I succeded, but by pure luck ha ha). I like the tiny buildings too. Great work Mike !

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

Thank you all very much guys!

In due time, I will try creating some killer mats from Verve.

Speaking of Normal Maps, you might want to check this out:

Using a Normal Map for a Verve-created mat would surely speed up rendering, but sometimes a great displacement map has its advantages, especially when you're really wanting to envision those crusty edge details.
When I can afford the $245, I plan on setting up a copy of Thea Render which handles mats like a champ. (...hmm, I should get a Windows OS in 64-bit first. ;) )

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

I don't mind normal maps, but I've never used one in all my professional projects. I exclusively use displacement maps, while messiah:studio's renderer combines displacement with bump mapping automatically to preserve or reproduce all details of the map.
I did, however, use normal maps in a little game I started a long time ago and it does save processing time in real time scenarios, of course.

 "Transylvanian Traffic"

Newest radio club newsletter cover.

Depicts a ghoulish scene of "Mum" receiving a Radiogram message from her sons; Frank, Drac and Wolfie via Morse code over the international short waves.

Believe it or not, anyone can still send a free message (25 words or less) to anyone in the world for free.
Yes, email and airmail made it antiquated, but hams still avidly practice the procedure because when something nasty like a hurricane happens and cell phone and fiber links are down for the affected areas, message handling via the ARRL NTS is really potentially the only way that the emergency and health and welfare communications can pass between service agencies and the general population.

Anyways, it was a fun Halloween inspired piece that took eight hours... and damn, the stylus is starting to act up, or the nib is sticking... :?

Hey, that's sacrificial blood in that ink well. :P

Re: Artwork de K4ICY

As for every newsletter (with a bit of increasing tendency?) an monster effort for a monstrous cool picture.
Congratulations Mike! Super cool.
Best, Knacki

My 25 words have been already used but I would like to ask: Is it really words?
Because words could be very long.
25 words are far away of "floccinaucinihilipilification" :D :D (One of the longest words I could find, making somehow sense in this context ;) )
