Re: With verve into the light

Thank you very much, zero.
The fish is a fan tailed gold fish and verve made it to an cloud tailed gold fish ;)

A quick ink test portrait from some references and imagination.

Last for today done with Lemi's watercolor preset and a bit fine tuning.

And another one- meanwhile I guess that this is a quite convincing aquarelle style.

Re: With verve into the light

Awww, that brings back memories. We used to have a Beta fish, who was surprisingly interactive. He would leap out of his tank to catch food mid-air. We've had him for over 4 years, actually. VERY nice, Knacki! And so are the aquarelle styles above!

I like this one - bit of cloud painting with a painted mask for better liquids.

Re: With verve into the light

I like it, too, but I think that the eye "rendering" is too tight or sharp, you know as well as a little off to the left (or her right) and possibly a wee bit too high. I would have kept them a little more lose, especially the outer most definition of the upper eyelids.
My most favorite part is what might be the shoulder (or back of the shoulder?) with the deep blue swirl. That's gorgeous! c:!

Oh, DANG, man, that's MUCH nicer! :hyper: ... absolutely great! I have to giggle a tiny bit, the longer I look at her, because with just two antennas, she'd be an Andorian sex-goddess!

Re: With verve into the light

congrats Knacki, I see you have your way with watercolors,
I remember when I tried some settings, the fluids were great in Verve,
but I didn't have much luck doing a super clear well defined thick bristly impasto brushstroke effect in Verve
perhaps you could cast some light on this matter. congrats again man.

Re: With verve into the light

Uhh, taron.
You think it needs some feeler ;)
Thanks for the input. It was quite a ride, but worth it.

Eduardo- you mean you would like to have an impasto tutorial?
That would take some time. Would be good for the „everlasting tricks“
I‘ll try to make a preset. No time for detailed explanation.
Anyway, I am not there either.
One thing always worth to play with is light.
Put layer bump a bit higher, around 50-max
Brush#2 is more structured and easier to adjust.
A bit more build up in brush parameter, sometimes a little bit blending in brush parameters to soften a little bit.
Light controls are:
Shift+ Arrows and Shift + page up and page down for Z axis can help a lot.
A little bit of metallic in the level parameter is looking like ambient occlusion, that means shadows looks more emphasizes.
