the jonathanmccabe page is very inspiring gallery. but i have not his toys!
just remember effects and some free configure with some simpler photoshopy toys.
they are different on fluid similar images ... verve pictures are effect-friendly often.

overfill mode



shift+ctrl+f -> one time : fill
shift+ctrl+f + right click -> several times : overfill
(several fill with some clicks make your canvas full of color ...
if you make overfilled canvas, paint became scratch and have bumpy edges and waves
if you test you can use better words for explain!
fill color: white
paint color: black
bump:100 or 99
DRP: some for amplify and visual
canvas texture: optional bump pen
...
