The lightning was my favorite part. I enjoyed every minute of painting this one, but in the end, I still feel like a "naive" artist.

I have one dirty little secret: I used Moment of Inspiration (Moi3D) to create the "bones" for the scene background.
(I love it when I'm able to "marry" the two programs.)
I took a screen capture and warped it some in PhotoShop.

This gave me some 'sketch lines' to paint with in my scene. Well... I guess that still counts as a sketch, which I also used a penciled version to rough out the scene and the character.

Oh, and thank you again Taron for including that image import feature.

We ALL want a Hover Board Taron... we all want one... 2015 has not brought all the promises made by Robert Zemeckis. - flying cars, a fax machine in every room (not) and dehydrated pizza that comes in a small wrapper.
We do have the bid-screen flat TV's though. They nailed that one.

The Moi3D model took only a couple of minutes.

Moi3d (Nurbs) is cool .. I own it too and also 3Dcoat (for Voxels) is cool and I like also the good old Silo (Subdivision Modeler) ....

And why not, its okay to use 3D first and after this into a 2D painting
But 3D is not a replacement, the ability to draw perspectives and anatomics in a correct way is important too.
