Re: With verve into the light

The first eye was a try to keep old rules I learned. Stay on one stroking style.
I always chose this kind of boring thing. Took ages and is not too convincing.
But could be easy replicate in real world.
Next two pieces I threw away all these conventions and thought full digital, but with a traditional result in mind.
That is where verve comes in very strong.

Brush #9, size off, opacity on 30- 50% percent and you are shading in seconds, what would have needed hours with a pencil. But new canvas and verve itself gives this refreshing natural style. So I work more in adding and erasing shades untill it fits.
You can even smudge, but you have to erase after untill you get the canvas structure back.

To be honest, I never did something that realistic and vivid like the nose in my entire live.
I still can't belive that I did that.
Something I always wanted to be able to.
Thanks to verve & taron. :ob
The third style is more artistic which allows much more room for my personality.
As I won't find much verve time next weeks, I'll go for that more often, but keep photorealistic stuff in mind.
Face parts, these will be my focus next time, untill I feel strong enough to fight my old enemys:
Hands & feet.

It's beautiful stuff and I'm sure the next few months will have to grow exponentially! But then, you've already displayed such great talent, I'm almost surprised to keep reading from you such humble reflections. You're awesome, man! c:! :ob

Re: With verve into the light

Taron, that's very nice of you.

You are right, it will be better.
But my drawing skills haven't improved much last 26 years.
Ok, I concentrated on different things but it's more than time to change this!
We are almost same age. Imagine how it would feel to have my technical drawing level ;)
Ah, I see you understood. ;)
So I have to be a bit harder with myself before I left my skills like they are for the rest of my life.
It's just technique which can be learned - but have to be learned once.

Talent is another story - if talent means you don't have to learn everything hard step by step - I am not so gifted.
I know how to arrange good pictures etc. Now it's time to get it into a decent technical stage.

But again a bit progress. Something almost same strange than feet and hands to me - Ears.
Progress from left to right.
I guess there is another set needed.

Again I can recommend the youtube channel of proko. He is explaining anatomy very well. Specially construction rules.

Re: With verve into the light

Great results Knacki!
Nose and ears have look and feel of skin texture! c:!
I'm glad you've found your technique! Yes, anatomy is part which one day I will also need to tackle. I'm avoiding it whole my noob art life, as the most hardest and tedious part. But, you know what? I think with Verve it will be a way easier, even more funny. Verve really gives you a feeling, in a physical, tangible way that you actually models from some sort of clay.
btw. Thanks for the tips! Yeah, brush #9 is fine grained one! :ob

Re: With verve into the light

Hey tartan - nice to see you back.
You probably have missed some more stuff.
Yeah, I really do like this falcon thing too, but do you see his hands?
No?
It's because I always try to avoid them.
Finally I realized that I have to go though all of it before I can paint those wonderful abstract styles I need for my concepts like this future falcon.

Without human there is no interesting landscape, without anatomy there is no real human and the most expressive part of a human is ......

The ear! :D :D

I have to watch out for the black values a bit more.

@zen
Come on join me! - it's never too late and verve makes things much easier.

@taron - nice one. But starting position is often a question of natural talent as I saw on a friend of mine. He just have a lot me have to learn hard.
Technically only, for sure :D :D

Re: With verve into the light

Oh, you think I am the first of my kind drawing?
Maybe I spent my last life just kissing soft tasty lips instead of drawing somewhere alone?
