Hi Zero,
I played with Krita a couple of days (several hours) during last summer on my previous PC on Windows 7, and it did not crash once.
However the medium / large brushes had some annoying lag :( . Also the Wacom Art Pen (special pen with barrel rotation) was not handled correctly.
Then i discovered Verve...

Tried the stable version for some sketches....2.8? check website.
It didn't crash, has tons of functions and nice presets.
Lovely brushes, and a lot necessary tools.
But as GBoGBo said, big brushes are very slow, also on my system.
Maybe linux is faster?

@ zeropainter
The Block Mix Tilt brush (far left, third from top) starts to get slow at 450px Size on the Nikon D5000 template.
As one example.
I am really missing verves unique and excellent blending options...maybe didn't find it?

http://www.autohotkey.com/

Some weeks ago I did read, that AUTOHOTKEY would be very for windows useful  - maybe if e.g. you have the wish to have other verve hotkeys? I will test it :) - but you can also make some nice macros and small apps :)

I will test large KRITA brushes :) too today

NirCmd - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html

NirCmd is a small command-line utility that allows you to do some useful tasks without displaying any user interface.

I use it for switching a default sound device (parameter setdefaultsounddevice).
