Re: Suggestions

Hehe nice ;-)
Yes alt+space would be nice and will be pretty safe from accidental presses. Looking forward to see that in action man! Thanks!

Re: Suggestions

Yeh well, damned... [alt]+[space] doesn't work, but [ctrl]+[space] works.... doesn't seem intuitive, but I can't see any other way right now. It's nice, by the way. Alt is just a very special key.
Anyhow, next version will have that! In the meantime I might see if there's something I can do about it, because it's really a little clumsy that way.

Re: Suggestions

Maybe a ctrl + shift or that is also occupied?

Re: Suggestions

hey, my dear Taron, what about the possibility - in one of your next versions - about the possibility for individual key-remapping? E.g. can't use ... [ and ... ] for brush resizing - because I have a german keyboard. If I hit ALTGR + [ or ALTGR + ] .. it didn't works ;)

Re: Suggestions

To resize your brush you only hold space and mouse button (or pen) and drag.
To resize the minimum brush size (when using pen pressure) hold space and shift and mouse button and drag.
What exactly are you talking about, Zero?
OH, maybe you stopped reading after you saw my suggestion of using alt and space, haha... but if you took a deep breath and kept on reading, you would've seen that I know it's not possible.
Currently I do have space and ctrl to resize the picker size, which works fine and at least is consistent by means of holding space.

Zen, [Ctrl]+[Shift] you hold to paint with Average Mode.

Anyway, I think my current solution is rather acceptable. You'll see! It's not like one would constantly want to resize the color picker anyway. However, later on all this stuff will get interface gadgets!

Re: Suggestions

I am really super happy with verve already. High resolutions, masking, warp and wonderful liquids and brush engine is out of this world.

If I could think of something I really, really miss I would definitely say: Lasso + move, resize, rotate, distort.
That is so super helpful when doing layouts in photoshop or other tools that are offering this function, that it often stop me from using verve for a work.
But it's less a painter function than bashing - quick concept thing, But that's what I am doing most of the time.
Anyway, just to mention, as it was mentioned before I am quite sure.
It is not the kind of magic you mostly do.

-One idea you already got with brush #8 I guess. What about using seamless textures for brush picture and "roll" it on canvas like with brush #8 instead of stamp?

Re: Suggestions

YES! I thought about that already! I mean the brush rolling.... uhm... AND the whole selection|cut|transform|paste and so on. In fact, the brush image engine is most likely the most powerful transform tool, yet, since you can|could distort things accurately rather than only like a fake perspective like it happens in PS.
However, I keep thinking about how I could do Lasso, and it's a little tough the way I imagine it via openGL. I'm thinking about generating a mesh of polygons, which you wouldn't see, of course, rather than the usual rasterized approach. That would be great and horrible at the same time for a number of reasons in both directions, hahaha. In other words: Lots left to think about!
Naturally I could try to go for a hybrid.
Let's just say that it's on my mind and I agree with the power it represents!

Re: Suggestions

ooOOOHHHH, THE SUFFERING! I so so soooo want to share with you the latest prototype feature, because it already works beautifully including loading and saving, BUT I still have one more crazy thing to add, which will make this quite extra exciting!
I'm a little afraid that- by the end- you'll be potentially underwhelmed, because you'd expect such a thing as total standard or you were hoping for a more natural solution to this already, but it will come to, I promise!
All I'm revealing now is that it's about color management. That is kind of revealing it all, but I don't know, if you've ever seen that specific kind of solution, hehehehe. It's fun! :D

Re: Suggestions

Grrrr...I had that planned from the beginning, not least because I already wrote these exact things 5 years ago or more?! Somewhere I still might have my "Happy Trees", which were one of the first things I programmed in Bmax. And that was all still cpu, not gpu. WOOOPS.... 2008, hahaha, oh man, it's freaking 8 years ago. Incredible how time flies.
But I really, really enjoy watching how dog waffle feels and looks compared to Verve... 8-) :?
