Re: Suggestions

Well, not sure if you realized this, but you can have limitless swatch sets! :ugeek: ...almost can't imagine that you hadn't realized that, but the little dots above the swatches are actually set switches.
Anyhow, I like the idea, but that gets a little patchy, because I really wanted to make a whole animation logic, which would include colors as well as automatic variations such as hue, but anything, really (HSV). The swatch animation system would be like the image animation, you know (linear like now, random fixed, random flowing, this sort of stuff, ping pong probably).
So, if I noodle more into N as it is now, not sure, if it would be wise. I may have a look.
Here to help! :D

Re: Suggestions

What I didn't realize was that "N" is running through one swatch set only ;)

This sounds nice and useful taron. But also much more complicate.

Hue dancer keeps volume. Random through swatches doesn't do this so far.
Maybe just a little toggle button beside Hue dancer to "apply per tip"? :D Nothing fancy.

Re: N key

Don't you dare mess with my n Key!!!!!!!!!
N key is the magic elixir of verve
N key with swatch sets is the heart and soul of my paintings!
Please dont mess with my n key!!!!
Unless.....you aim to provide some control to the random colour
Which I would l o v e and have longed for since it was introduced.
I think what your really asking for is what everybody would love.
Some simple variability controls added to the colour picker.
HSV variability dial obviously applied per stroke or bristle or both.
I can see the overlap with n key but really they are separate issues.
The n key is a realtime function which is quite different....and yes it is a wild horse that needs some taming! (I.e.: peramiters) but beautiful and inspiring none the less.
It is perhaps one of my favorite things in verve because verve can take random colour in fluid motion and blend into the most stunning gradients and transitions that do not create mud! I have no idea how verve does this but I k ow of no other paint software that can make magic from red and green! Using selective colour sets multiplies that magic by 100! Being able to select random ranges of hsv would probably blow my mind.....so it's just as well we don't have it....right taron ?
Lol

Re: Suggestions

Hahaha - well Stavros, I am sorry.
This was not my intention.
Forget about "N"

But a toggle for hue dancer "per stroke" or "per tip" would be lovely.
And yes, you are right. A volume/brightness dancer as well ;)

Something to quickly add a little bit of variations.

CTRL+LMB on Knob = Reset

Simple function to reset particular knobs quickly.

Re: Suggestions

Yeah, I'm about to rearrange the whole freaking GUI for the darn HUE DANCER "SPEED DIAL" or "STROKE TOGGLE"...one of those, not sure, yet. I've tested it with a constant hue dancing and it is really fun, actually. So...I MUST HAVE IT, but...well...darn GUI, really! :PP

Re: Suggestions

That sound super lovely, taron :D

Well - I must admit that now, after really understanding color swatches with "N" I really love that too.
This is a real innovation, so far as I know.... ;)

Whenever you touch color swatches again I have some ideas:

-What about a volume/brightness slider on top to darken or brighten a complete set?

-And an option to vary this volume/brightness in one stroke per percentage
-A swatch selection option for animation playback to select particular colors from a bigger set
-Function for random mix in-between selected colors during swatch-animation playback.

Reading your first answer, I guess this is somehow what you had in mind.
With hue dancer toggle we are almost there.
Always a question between value and work to program, isn't it? ;)

But the "swatch set brightness slider" could be extremely useful to reduce amount of necessary sets.

Now, I'll stop to post ideas. I am sorry if I am distracting from other things you had in mind.

Re: Suggestions

Oh no, this is good stuff, no worries! :ob
Paha, if I told you what my original ideas were with the swatches...pfff. I really still want to do one of them, which I think would be totally awesome, but I might do a variation of it:
- grab a swatch and drag it out to create a gradient to the previous swatch. 8-)
- switch view mode of swatches to gradients from swatch to swatch (temporarily melting them so to say)

That, I think, would be awesome stuff and I am planning on making those happen, too. :ugeek: :D
