Re: Taron's little gallery

Thanks, b, I have no hope to ever reach your standards in less than 25min! ;)
However, I'm curious about what you're talking about. Feel free to become constructive in your feedback! :)

Re: Taron's little gallery

What are you talking about getting old you young whipper snapper! It's hard changing my ways at 57 but it shakes things up. :D It doesn't hurt to experiment with routine. I like your last landscape :)

Taron wrote:As it is, too, but sometimes it's tough to transition from crude impulse to fine intuition. The mode internally is so very different. When you take your time, details are no problem at all, but if you do such wild things...pfff... weird to switch back down. But it's very exciting, too, like something new to learn. I guess, it might be a good idea to consciously do such a broad sketch and then let it sit for a while before approaching any detail work. OR I'm just getting old?! Who knows... :P

THANKS, though, of course! :D

I know that feeling! For me what bothers me the most is that I can never be able to keep that spontaneous feeling when I refine it up. It's so frustrating because with the refined work, I feel like it's too stiff and lost its power. :S So yeah it's another way around for me. XD

Oh, you're not getting old! You're just getting wiser and wiser! ;)

Re: Taron's little gallery

I wonder if "getting wiser" really equals "knowing thy limits", hahaha. In my case it feels a bit like a minefield, where new limits pop up with time.
Anyway...yes, D, you're right, of course, but it depends on where you leave your mind at. If you focus on details alone rather than doubting your coarse choices of proportions or the likes, you can keep some of the "verve" alive, haha. Spock is an interesting example, actually. I made it eventually my goal to come as close as possible to his original proportions, feel them and analyze them as faithfully as possible by eye, of course. Normally things should've gotten stunningly stiff, but it was part of the challenge somehow.
I guess, one could say that it depends on the subject or nature of the challenge.

57, Tartan!? Fills me with joy, hehe! I'm about to hit 42, thus... yeah... makes me kind of a spring chicken here, hehehe! Thanks for the successful encouragement! :D

Wow I'm starting to like your style when it comes down to abstract! Love how you created the 'bubble' wrap effect in the last one. The amount of texture gives it a right finish. :D <3 And lol at getting wiser, you might have a good point. Mmm, I'll have to ponder on that. :D

On the first one.. I feel like that sometimes and then crawl out from beneath the bed cover :D On the second one I see a strange universe. Nice effect there :!:

Re: Taron's little gallery

Thanks you two! :D ...makes me wonder, it might make a neat topic "Creature: fetus & mature"
I'm getting a big kick out of doing abstracts with Verve, no doubt. And there's so much inspiration on the forum already, it's fantastic! :D

Ehehehe, as for getting older&wiser, inspiration can help there, too, a great deal. Depending on ones fundamental traits, reaching balance is probably the most universal observation. For example, I used to be rather impulsive. Gradually I have learned to control those impulses, allow myself to take my time, once I feel one coming on, so to say. For others it may be the process of allowing a certain amount of impulse to come forward to familiarize oneself with intuition again. Much like with the noodling to death of a picture, contemplating too much can bury intuition and push one off track, just as much as pure impulsiveness can toss one off the rails. But balance can not be found on the surface of ones habits, but only if you dig deeper into fundamentals beyond the self, aspects that affect all of us, even all of life. It's as if one has to uncover where the rope's at on which we travel. :)
