Re: Suggestions

Ahahahaha, thanks, Stavros! I think, it's just to exhausting to be cocky, you know!
I watched some of their youtube clips now and ...eh... well.... I'm very, very comfortable with what I've got going already! :D 8-)
They have some nice dispersion, but that's because they focus on simulating watercolors ... but did you notice the frantic scoot over to a "DRY" button, hahaaaaahahahahaha! I had to laugh so much inside... kind of internal hysterical giggle. Yeah, I've got an automation in Verve that tries to make such frantic user actions less relevant. I'm pretty sure I know what would've happened, if he didn't do that, ehehhe. So, I have respect for them as I have for pretty much everyone, but I'm not as intimidated as I was afraid i might be.
Sure, I don't have the cute 3d brush and the bristle stuff and complex paint release, but only because I didn't get to the latter. I will never have a 3d brush in there, though. I think that's super annoying, when you're really trying to paint.
Yes, they have no fancy paint treatment other than dispersion. I've got a number of complicated things happening with the paint that is utterly heuristic, of course, but creates a different kind of overhead for processing. Yet, their speed has not impressed me at all. He always gently moves the brush around as if walking on egg shells.
I am pretty much dead certain that they won't have any fluid going on at 12k, I am absolutely dead certain of that. Even if it was somehow displaying a portion of some 12k image, the fluid table is probably at the same or lower resolution than mine, especially looking at the behavior of it. But it's pretty and I wished I already had the depth of mathematical understanding to pull of more complicated physics as quickly as I do my pie*thumb math, hahaha...haha...aawwww  .

Anyway...at the end those apps have really different objectives, I'm sure. But you're absolutely right, when you realize how much I hate comparisons or challenges of that kind. It goes against what motivates me and it doesn't matter what that makes me, because at the end the effect is what ends up mattering. I don't want to feel crappy in either direction, even if I get a kick out of triumphing over opportunists and those, who work with the goal of taking advantage of others, rather than supplying them with valuable tools. I'm not accusing those guys at all, because I really still wish for myself to one day make a living with just this, but I want full consent of my artists, peers and customers. I never want to disappoint or cause regrets for anybody about having spent any money on me, you know. I so hate when that happens.

Anyway, gorgeous painting!!! I hope that goes straight to your gallery!?! :ugeek:

Re: Suggestions

Regarding Spam and how to detect non-english char :)

>>Taron: I've got a rotating captcha solution activated, so that is already there as far as I know. The Cyrillic thing could be brilliant, hahaha, if I would know how to detect and prohibit those?! :geek:

Can you check unicode value of each char, Taron? Here is a list of Unicode ranges:
http://jrgraphix.net/research/unicode_blocks.php

You mentioned that the captcha is already implemented and activated. What about to use it not only for registration but for the login process too?

Re: Suggestions

Thanks, Lemi, but I rely on the forum framework and what it offers. Even there I still don't know half of what it can do. Yes, I wrote some augmentations already, but it's tough for me to chew through everything, you know.
In the meantime I just make it my routine to delete posts and ban spambots. ...it's ok. :|

Re: Suggestions

AH, oh, man... Stavros...yeah, I'm working hard on putting the next update together. I have found so many things to improve, it's awesome! :bounce:
On a side-note, though...I've just hooked up with drpetter and TheFoundry on a totally different product in its earliest stage, but it's really getting exciting. Here's an article on fxguide that just popped up:

Re: Suggestions

Peebler described Taron recently to fxguide as “an incredible human, phenomenal artist and inspiring programmer.”

So not a robot! :D :ob

Re: Suggestions

 :geek: quote from the movie "Grandma's boy": "I - AM - A - GENIUS"
Thanks guys! I'm just having fun with Tomas and the small gang around Brad on something that could become a massive innovation. It's already very exciting for sure!
That article is very flattering for sure. It just seemed like he featured me more than Tomas, who's the programmer of this new sculpting tool and should have gotten a lot more attention, if you asked me, but...eh...who am I to complain! :D 8-) (I'm sure I'm missing a few more smilies here!) :?

Re: Suggestions

VEry exciting Taron
I wish you well with that project!
Why stop at changing the world with only Verve
when there is soooo much more to revolutionize :)
I downloaded Mischief and it is quite interesting. ( but where is the fluid dial and smeeeeeaaaar brush ? lol)
Then I read up on the technology and THAT is quite fascinating indeed!
Cant wait to see what you hackers do with it!
Interview is a nice plug for your little "side" project too..hahaha
