Re: Suggestions

Hahaha, that's very cool!!

I just got the mail today, looked at the new website and bought Mischief right away.
It is half price than yesterday.
Infinite canvas and never care about resolution is too cool to miss for sketching.

Well, it is so nice to hear that you and Dr Petter are on a new prog with new completely new approach.

It gives me the hope, that computer future will be easier. If I just think about how long it took me to get into zBrush.
Still below 50% knowledge. It is almost not use able if you are not working with it at least twice every week.
On the other side Dr Petters Sculptris with all it's limitations but just the right feeling!

Best wishes for this project!
For you, for me, for everyone ;)

Re: Suggestions

Thanks guys! :D
But, Knacki, it's either Tomas or drpetter (from DrPepper the softdrink!)...I always have to giggle a little when it reads like he's got a doctor title, hahaha...but he may as well deserve it, too! 8-)
I haven't even tried Mischief...bet it's neat, though! :)
Here to help! :D

Re: Suggestions

Haha, well titles.
Germans are crazy about titles.
Does it change the result of your work?
It only says you spend a certain amount of time on one specific theme.

If there, instead of the title, would be a description what was really done, well I guess this title mania would be different.
"Man who sawed sheep bones and watched them growing together over months."
Or:
"Man who was working all night through, I saw the light burning in his office every night"
(Neighbour of Theodor zu Gutenberg. Former German minister who lost his doctor title, because he didn't wrote by himself. That was her argument that he must have done it by his own)

In comparison it is very obvious what Dr Petter, sorry Tomas, did for a lot of people.
And it's obvious that he knows how a modern UI have to look like.
It isn't only about making something possible, it's more and more about how, and how easy.

As a conclusion. Doctor titles are a door opener to higher jobs and higher payment you both has already opened. Dr taron, and Dr petter.

But you are far away from hiding your knowledge for your own profit. With verve and much more with your your personal presence here at this forum.

;)

EDIT: Having said this, I googled Dr Sarah Frisken (real Dr) Founder and CEO of 61 Solutions - maker of mischief.
Have a look at her Curiculum Vitae! This woman really made a lot of things. Deepest respect!
http://www.sarahfrisken.com/frisken_cv.pdf

Btw. Mischief is vector drawing quality without all this vector limitations. It feels good.
Natural pencil style.
Cool Marker & Airbrush. That's what I figured out so far.
The very cool thing is that you have this infinite canvas.
If you take a lesson i.e. with quickposes. Just draw!
Nothing to care about.
No extra layer almost no limit.
Telephone doodles. Go for it!
Check out their sample files - Sleepy Story.
Hell what a tool to tell a story! Just a bit more than 1 MB.

Painting is not comparable to verve, though. For sure. ;)
But results people get with it is freaking cool.
And you can print every silly drawing on a10 metres banner , if you think that have to be
But I have to say, the interface is good.
Maybe not most beautiful, but very good and self explaining.

DOUBLE EDIT: I missed the ADF sculpting demovideo yesterday.
THAT IS SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! I almost cried.
Seems like Sculptris plopped out of the egg and became the beautiful paradise bird, we all knew it once would be...... before it got lost in PIxological thinking.

Re: Suggestions

What is the big concept difference between ZBrush and ADF ? (result seems the same)
Is beautiful that please without concept!

Re: Suggestions

It's pretty much entirely different. 3dcoat would probably come closer to that, since it is voxel based as well. Zbrush has a different foundation.
Zbrush, for one, only as of late became adaptive in some form, but not really interactively. It's most certainly volume based, the sketch thingy they have, but this ADFsculpt is...well... ADF based. Adaptive Distance Fields, which is kind of like an extension to the pure voxel concept... I've lost you at least two lines ago already, didn't I? :?
Anyway... pretty big difference!

Re: Suggestions

I bought Mischief this year. When I saw that article I was like,

"Oh no! Mischief has been bought! By Foundry! Wait, who's Foundry?!" /looks up Foundry. They made Modo.

"Oh good for them! Yay!" :P I'm excited what can be done with it in the 3D realm.

Mischief is a good program. I like the premise of the tech and philosophy. I really want to see them continue on. It's a great sketching software. If I want a digital feel, I would want to make a drawing from that program.
I still do prefer Verve. The dynamics of the brush is hard to leave.

Re: Suggestions

Zbrush uses also the voxels but in hidden background at least from the version 1.55! ;)
The difference with 3D Coat is that it's makes that not in real time and hidden for the user! :)
(Unified Skin with Smooth = 0)
Yep ADF is surely another concept but when you see the video, that can be Zbrush like in the result and modeling!

Re: Suggestions

I've never drilled a hole into an object so effortlessly, that I can promise you, haha!
It's pretty amazing, really. But it still has some challenges, of course. Again, this probably won't ever be something like Zbrush, but it may well blow "Sculptris" out of the water, once it's done! :)

Re: Suggestions

The future is looking very exciting Taron. I think one of the most exciting aspects is that you are working with Dr. Petter. I had no idea he had quit Pixilogic but in retrospect I am glad he did. As you are quite aware of, I am sure, sculptris, is my favorite 3d program with Zbrush running a close second. Concepting in it feels so much more natural and if I have to get fancy I can take it to Z. I felt that Pixilogic was too constrictive to a free soul like Tomas and now I see that he can operate much more freely. Don't be humble as to your role in this. It has been many years since I last saw any real mention of ADF.. wow need any alpha testers? LOL ummmm Don't Forget Verve LOL c:! My day has become brighter!
