Very Smart cuty prog! ;) With a cool UI for old eyes! :ob

Suggestion : a curvated rule...and principally an PDF export with vector curves data!

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Hehe, that's awesome, Pilou! :hyper: So glad you immediately start experimenting with it.
Yeah, PDF is tough when it comes to vectors. I will try to make a vector based export, but the import is really rough. There seems to be little documentation or pleasant ways to figure it out, but I'll be on that once things start rolling.

Re: White Rabbit CAD

No general rotation of the canvas ?
It's the first thing I try to do!
ok I can simulate it!
(not exactly because I have forgotten to select a circle! :hihi:

Re: White Rabbit CAD

I am some perplex about Trim the circle itself! :PP :D
Arc no problem! :ob
Maybe I miss something, maybe it's impossible ? A key to press ?
(i suppose not because it's arrived one time by hasard but impossible to remember how ! :PP :D
My mouse is burned by the thousand tests!

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Haha, exactly, Pilou! You can just rotate all elements. For clothing patterns, your drawing itself provides the coordinate system, leaving you totally open to rotate all as you please. You can always select everything and rotate it. No need to rotate a canvas.
Circles are closed loops, which must not be trimmed. Arcs are for that and you can make an arc out of a circle by subdividing it, if you really had to. If you knew you wanted an arc, you'd really just make one, though. Arcs are evil, though. In my eyes they are the worst of all geometries, really. While they can do very little, they demand a great deal of consideration. Unlike Beziers, which are able to do virtually everything and they are super easy to deal with.
Tools like inkscape do naughty things, actually faking arcs with bezier curves! I know this, because I wrote a little SVG import, that left me quite surprised about this! :uhuhuh: ... :ob
For accuracy I actually had to make arcs out of line segments. SVG arcs are notoriously imprecise for some reason?! When you give them an arc length (degree range), it does not virtually never go exactly to that length. Terrible. At least not in JavaFX. :PP ...so I had to improvise, too.

Anyway, I'm SUPER thrilled you're experimenting around with it! That's awesome! But I can't tell you enough that it is truly meant and optimized for pattern making and does not really support free illustrations or any operations outside of the scope of clothing patterns. Like doing miniatures or the likes. But I may later try to make it a bit more ready for handling different scopes. :ugeek:

Re: White Rabbit CAD

So impossible! :)
No problem but please input this particular impossibility to the Manual! :geek: (added to the French one! Last Line!

I must sprinkle my mouse with some water...

I am sure that i made a trimed circle by cliking a little free segment(s) inside the circle so my obstinacy to refound it!
surrely fallen inside a special loop of code! :)
I must give up that!

I must go out...i explain the process in some times! :geek:

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Excellent, yes. I can tell that this is an arc-circle, hehe... But, yeah... it's a little harsh with arcs. This looks a bit wrong...
It's very challenging to create a software that simply does everything, no matter what you throw at it. The result is almost always something that works for everything and is awesome for nothing. Instead we're going for "Perfect for Clothing Patterns", where it gives you all that you need to do the required tasks easily and quickly. But it's a bit of a sacrifice, of course. :geek:
